Oscars 2020: Taylor Swift's Song Will Sadly Not Get a Nomination

The music branch of The Academy has announced the 15 songs that will compete for a Best Original Song nomination at the 2020 Oscars and Taylor Swift‘s song “Beautiful Ghosts” from Cats is sadly not one of them.

The 30-year-old singer co-wrote the song with composer Andrew Lloyd Webber for the movie and most people thought it was a lock for a nomination. It has even earned a Golden Globe nominations already!

Among the songs that are eligible are ones from Aladdin, Frozen 2, Harriet, The Lion King, Parasite, Rocketman, Toy Story 4, and more.

Here is the statement from the Academy:

Fifteen songs will advance in the Original Song category for the 92nd Academy Awards. Seventy-five songs were eligible in the category. Members of the Music Branch vote to determine the shortlist and the nominees.

The original songs, along with the motion picture in which each song is featured, are listed below in alphabetical order by film title and song title:

“Da Bronx” from “The Bronx USA”
