The Disney+ series picked up the 2020 GLAAD Award for Outstanding Kids & Family Programming, in a tie with Hulu’s The Bravest Knight.

“Congrats to cast, crew, writers and directors of #HSMTMTS ❤️🏳️‍🌈,” HSMTMTS creator Tim Federle wrote on Instagram.

“Thank you to @timfederle and @disneyplus for championing our show, and for helping so many people feel less alone! you were born to be brave baby!!!” Joshua Bassett wrote on Instagram story.

“#hsmtmts just won a @glaad award for outstanding kids & family programming – huge congratulations to the whole cast & crew who help us to tell these stories!! 🌈💖🌟 so honored & proud to be a part of it. ❤️ #glaadawards #disneyplus,” Joe Serafini wrote on his account.

“During this era of political and cultural division, LGBTQ images in media are crucial in accelerating acceptance for the LGBTQ community and countering the dangerous rise in anti-LGBTQ rhetoric,” GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis, said in a statement. “This year’s award recipients, including Pose and Schitt’s Creek, continue to bring necessary mainstream visibility to diverse voices within the LGBTQ community, ultimately raising the bar for LGBTQ inclusion and representation in media.”

Congratulations to High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and all the other GLAAD Awards winners!!
