Disney+ Wins First Emmy Awards For 'The Mandalorian'!

Disney+ has picked up it’s first ever Emmy Awards for it’s original content!

The streaming platform launched in November 2019, and one of the biggest draws for originals was the Star Wars series The Mandalorian.

The show became a mega hit with fans and is now award winning.

The Mandalorian won five of it’s 15 2020 Emmy Awards nominations on Wednesday evening (September 16). The trophies they received were for visual effects, sound editing, sound mixing, production design and cinematography.

Other nominations include Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for Taika Waititi as IG-11, Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series for Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon, Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup For A Series, Limited Series, Movie Or Special, Outstanding Music Composition For A Series (Original Dramatic Score), Outstanding Stunt Coordination For A Drama Series, Limited Series Or Movie, Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes, and three noms in the Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing For A Drama Series category.

There are still two more nights of handing out awards, and the show could very well pick up more, including the big award of Outstanding Drama Series. Stay tuned!

In case you missed it, the season two trailer for The Mandalorian was recently released!
