'Soul' Made History With It's Oscars 2021 Wins!

Soul is continuing to make big strides!

The Disney/Pixar animated film won two Academy Awards on Sunday night (April 25), making history for streaming service Disney+.

If you remember, Soul premiered on Disney+, and it’s wins at the annual awards show are the first ever Oscars for the streamer!

The movie, which also makes history with Jamie Foxx as the first African-American lead in a Pixar film, picked up two trophies – Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Score. It also won both of these awards at the 2021 Golden Globes.

If you missed it, this is the 11th Best Animated Feature for Pixar, and the 14th for Disney overall. It’s also the third Best Animated Feature win for director Pete Docter. Get more details here!

Jon Batiste was among the winners for the Best Original Score award, along with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. His win is only the second time a Black composer has won an Original Score Oscar. The first was Herbie Hancock for 1986′s Round Midnight, another film centered around Jazz music.

Congratulations once again to the entire cast and crew of Soul!!
