Selena Gomez has played a ton of characters — there was a sarcastic wizard, a tomboy who became BFFs with a princess, a midwestern girl who took the place of a socialite…but the roles she really wants to take on are far from that.
“I could do any tomboy/teen princess movie in the world if I wanted to,” she tells the NY Times. “I could do those for years.”
But those aren’t the roles she’s after: “I want to be a part of projects that have value, that really matter. And it’s really hard to do that. Sometimes I feel defeated.
“I’ll audition for a part that I feel very passionate about, meet with people, tell them I’m willing to go places. I think they think I won’t go there.”
Selena adds, “I don’t think it’s going to happen anytime soon for me. I think I look really young and image-wise, it’s difficult for people to grasp [that I want hefty parts]. But early on, my mom taught me that sometimes you just have to create those projects for yourself. That’s what I want this [13 Reasons Why] to be: a launching pad.”

The 18-year-old daughter former First Daughter checked out a performance of Sweeney Todd over the weekend and the cast was so happy to have her!
Malia even snapped a photo with the cast, which was shared on their official Instagram account.
“We were honored to welcome Malia Obama to @SweeneyToddNYC this weekend, where she reunited with former @WhiteHouse pastry chef @Bill_Yosses to see the show and try our pies! #MoreHotPies,” they wrote.
Cast member Matt Doyle added, “Yes. She’s wonderful.”
Iris West has been through a lot in the past season of The Flash.
She moved in with Barry Allen, almost died when Clive Yorkin touched her arm and almost disappeared into a pile of ash, she got engaged, broke it off, and then got re-engaged to Barry…see, a lot of stuff!
So, what’s really ahead for Iris, knowing that what Barry saw in the future of her dying, is coming?
“Her coming to terms with the fact that she may die. Very soon, she may reach the end of her life, and that is a terrifying concept to have to deal with,” Candice Patton reveals in a new interview. “You see her start to plan for that.”
“She will ask Barry to make sure he takes care of Wally, looks out for Joe, and keeps everyone intact. She’s actively thinking about the possibility that she could die…like anyone with a terminal illness, you go through all of the emotions.”
Candice adds, “If you only have so much time to live, you want to live it to the fullest, and try to be there for your family. She has to come to terms with the fact that she may die.”
