Aly and AJ, under their Violet House production company are eying a big screen adaption of “Wither” by Lauren DeStefano.
According to Variety, Violet House will partner up with Prospect Park for the pic.
“Wither” is set in a future where the world’s in a state of panic due to a failed effort to create a perfect race that’s left women with a lifespan of 20 years while men die at 25. The second book, “Fever,” is due out next year. More Here! »
Aly and AJ Michalka sit by pal Matt Leinart during his 3rd Annual Celebrity Golf Classic Welcome Party at The Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood on Saturday night (April 16).
The 78violet sisters openen up to Nylon mag about gritty roles, working with top name directors and who’s really meant for Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl. Check it:
AJ on Super 8: “The coolest thing I can talk about is that the movie is a vintage throwback to Steven [Spielberg]‘s other stuff, and it’s shot like ET. It looks like a total classic when you see the trailer, and that’s what it sounds like…Elle Fanning is the sweetest, most adorable thing ever. Although maybe I can’t say she’s adorable, because she’s way taller than me. It’s super action-packed. And if you think you know what the movie will be like because it stars young kids, you’re wrong – you’ll never believe that something with young kids is going to be so gnarly.”
Aly on her edgy roles: “Sometimes, people tell me to do some edgy gritty role just to prove I’m a good actor. That is not good advice! That’s when you get people making fun of you, going “Oh wow, look at her trying so hard to be something she’s not.” And if you don’t think you’re good enough as you are, nobody will.”
Both on who really belongs with Blair: “It’s Ed [Westwick, who plays Chuck Bass]! I mean come on, they’re like, so toxically good for each other! They’re soul mates.”
Aly Michalka hits up Lopez Tonight on Monday night (February 28) and rattled off some of the other possible band names she and sister AJ could’ve changed their band name to.
The 21-year-old actress shared with host George Lopez, “We were sent a list of possible names from a record company and I don’t know if they were trying to sabotage us or not. But some of the suggestions were Poke In The Eye, Jiffy Swig and Over The Knee…which I find a little disturbing considering we’re sisters.”
Aly added of their ultimate new band name, 78violet, “78 stands for platinum [on the periodic table] which can’t be broken. Our relationship as sisters is deep and it can’t be corroded. Violet just has a really good energy going on. It’s positive, inspirational and uplifting color.”
Could you imagine Aly and AJ being called Over the Knee? So glad they went with 78violet!

The lyrics that are heard are: “Kiss me once, me twice/Hold me close through the night/Good night/Waking up in your arms/Let’s ignore the alarm/You leave me speechless/oh oh oh oh/This is how you make me feel/oh oh oh oh/oh oh oh oh”
Later in the season, you’ll see AJ guest star on the CW’s Hellcats with Aly.
