Adelaide Kane is a big reader and has stacked library of books that we’d love to browse.
Speaking with the JJJ Book Club, the former Reign actress revealed the last three books that she’s been reading and they include “Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind” by Yuval Noah Harari.
“[I've] been reading this for quite some time,” she admits. “I just can’t seem to get all the way through it though because it’s really dense and I’ve been really busy.”
However, the one book that Adelaide‘s reading right now is called “Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World” by Haruki Murakami — and it was Toby Regbo who gave it to her!
“Toby gave it to me when he left [the show] and it’s just been sitting in my library for years and I just started reading it,” she tells us.
Adelaide adds that he gifted it to her on a whim, really.
“He was giving away a whole bunch of his stuff when he moved and gave this one to me,” she shares. “He kind of knew that I have an affinity for Japanese stuff.”
It was announced earlier this summer that the Reign actress will be a recurring character on the upcoming seventh season of the ABC show, as Drizella, Cinderella’s step sister.
Adelaide posted a first look at Drizella on her Instagram, complete with a silver and emerald crown, and her on-screen mom, Lady Tremaine, played by Gabriella Anwar.
“Big headed Drizzy w Mommy Dearest,” she captioned.
The Irish actress will star as the queen, Mary Stuart, in the movie of the same name.
While we all know the story of the titular queen thanks to Reign, and a little history lesson too — this movie will also focus on Mary and her cousin, Elizabeth 1′s intense relationship.
Rivals in power and in love, and female regents in a masculine world, the two must decide how to play the game of marriage versus independence.
Determined to rule as much more than a figurehead, Mary asserts her claim to the English throne, threatening Elizabeth’s sovereignty. Betrayal, rebellion, and conspiracies within each court imperil both thrones � and change the course of history.
Mary, Queen of Scots is expected to be out in 2018.
The former Reign star is 27 today and over the weekend, was treated like a true queen by her friends and boyfriend Joey Pauline during a trip to Palm Springs.
On top of the little getaway, Adelaide got the only thing she ever wanted for her birthday — a James Jean artist proof!
“Dream come true!!! Artists proof by the exceptional @jamesjeanart from my love,” Adelaide showed it off on Instagram. “I’ve been a huge fan of @jamesjeanart illustrations and work for as long as I can remember, my favorite artist from my favorite person.”
She adds, “Needless to say I cried all through dinner…so excited to put this mama up on a wall I’ve been saving for something truly special. Thank you so much James for your note and your work, you’re a visionary and an inspiration!”
Adelaide Kane is officially joining the cast of Once Upon a Time!
The 26-year-old Reign actress has signed on the play Drizella, one of the evil stepsisters from Cinderella, in the show’s upcoming season.
Adelaide joins several other newcomers including Mekia Cox who will play Tiana from The Princess and the Frog and Rose Reynolds who will play Alice from Alice in Wonderland.
“We had a plan for the original show that ran six seasons, and at a point, we felt like it was time for certain characters to get their happy endings. What we’re going to do now is go on a new adventure,” showrunner Eddy Kitsissaid during the show’s Comic-Con panel.
He added, “We are looking forward to meeting new people who we didn’t get to explore as much.”

Adelaide Kane may be done playing Queen Mary in Reign, but she’s not done working with her co-stars.
The Aussie-born actress’s next project is called Acquainted, and stars three of her former Reign co-stars!
“I’m actually really excited about this,” she dished to JJJ during our recent interview. “It follows two couples in their mid-to-late 20s who are both in long term relationships. It explores love and what love means in that demographic.”
Adelaide continues, “Our writer is incredibly talented and he just…it’s hard hitting stuff. It’s relatable and difficult and it’s just handled in a matter of fact way. It’s about these two couples and hitting that road block and what happens when they run their course and end.”
“It’s a very difficult time for a lot of us where you’re looking back where you thought you’d be and where you want to be in your 30s and how you have to get there,” Adelaide says.
Adelaide also admits that she may have had something to do with the cast, too.
