Alice Englert is graceful in gray on the red carpet at the premiere of Only Lovers Left Alive during the 2013 Cannes Film Festival held at the Palais des Festivals on Saturday afternoon (May 25) in Cannes, France.
The 18-year-old actress reunited with mom, filmmaker Jane Champion at the festival, where she’s serving as the Short Film Jury President.

Out today, the flick follows Lena Duchannes (Alice Englert), the new girl in the small town of Gatlin, who she quickly captures the attention of Ethan Wate (Alden Ehrenreich), who only wants to escape what he views as a boring and dead end town. He quickly gets more than he bargained for, as Lena possesses strange powers that have long kept her at a distance from others in her life.
Lena and Ethan are drawn together, but their budding romance is threatened by the dangers posed by Lena’s being a Caster and her family’s Dark powers, for upon her sixteenth birthday Lena must undergo the Claiming, a process that will decide her fate forever: Light or Dark.

Alice Englert leans on leading man Alden Ehrenreich‘s shoulder in this exclusive, new shot from the February 2013 issue of Nylon magazine.
The Beautiful Creatures stars chatted about being initially being turned away from the movie and their characters.
“The film was pitched to me poorly, as sort of a teen rip-off of those Twilight movies and I thought, ‘Uh, I don’t want to do that,’” Alden shared.
Alice added of playing Lena, “She learned humanity through love, and discovered you can be light and dark. That is what is real and human.”
Beautiful Creatures is out in theaters NOW.
Alice Englert sticks close to co-star Alden Ehrenreich at the premiere of Beautiful Creatures at Cinemex Antara on Monday night (February 18) in Mexico City, Mexico.
The 18-year-old actress and 23-year-old actor, along with costar Emmy Rossum, presented their film earlier in the day with a press conference at the St. Regis Hotel.
“Viola Davis was the first person cast in this film, and I think I was the second or third. That, alone, said something to me. I really love her,” Alice recently told us during a press day in Los Angeles.
“She’s someone who I love because she shows you how you can really just relax and be honest. Honesty is fantastic. Viola showed me how to not need to perform for people and know how to take your own time.”
FYI: Alice wore a Vivienne Westwood dress for the press conference and Givenchy for the premiere.
