When we heard that The New Mutants was going to be a horror entry in the X-Men world, we didn’t expect it to be THIS scary!
The trailer for the new movie, starring Maisie Williams and Anya Taylor-Joy, was just released and we’re probably going to have nightmares tonight.
The film follows five mutants – Maisie (Game of Thrones), Anya (Split), Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things), Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why), and Blu Hunt (The Originals) – who are told they are in a hospital because they are dangerous.
“This isn’t a hospital, it’s a haunted house,” they soon realize and the scares start coming!
Alice Braga plays the doctor and the film was directed by The Fault in Our Stars‘ Josh Boone.
“We are making a full-fledged horror movie set within the X-Men universe. There are no costumes. There are no supervillains. We’re trying to do something very, very different,” Josh told EW.
Catch The New Mutants in theaters on April 13, 2018.
Maisie Williams has something in common with her BFF and Game of Thrones co-star Sophie Turner – they’re now both members of the X-Men family as well!
It was just announced that Maisie is joining the cast of New Mutants, a spinoff of the beloved Marvel franchise. Sophie of course played the role of a young Jean Grey in the recent films.
Maisie and Anya Taylor-Joy have both been cast in the film, which will be directed by The Fault in Our Stars‘ Josh Boone.
Anya will “play Magik, a girl who has learned sorcery and uses teleportation discs to travel” while Maisie will “play Wolfsbane, a girl struggling to reconcile her religious beliefs with her power to turn into a wolf,” according to THR.
