Alex Wolff gives Asa Butterfield the basics in this new clip from their new film, The House of Tomorrow.
The film centers on a sheltered teen (Butterfield) raised inside a geodesic dome who befriends a rebellious kid (Wolff) and forms a punk band to escape an oppressive grandmother, an overprotective father, and the looming legacy of renowned futurist Buckminster Fuller.
Asa Butterfield is getting a lesson in punk from Alex Wolff in the brand-new trailer for their film The House of Tomorrow!
In it, Asa portrays a teenage boy named Sebastian Prendergast.
Based on Peter Bognanni’s best-selling novel of the same name, The House of Tomorrow follows “Sebastian Prendergast (Asa), a teenager who lives a sheltered life inside a geodesic dome under the overprotective eye of his grandmother (Ellen Burstyn). When he befriends a rebellious teenager with heart trouble (Alex), Sebastian joins a punk band to escape his oppressive upbringing and the legacy of renowned futurist Buckminster Fuller,” according to EW.
Asa Butterfield definitely pulled everyone’s legs in a recent interview while promoting his latest flick, The Space Between Us.
“People don’t believe me when I say my name is Asa Bopp,” he shared, which is also his Instagram handle name. “It sounds like beatboxing.”
Asa added, “There was a comet in the sky when I was born (HaleBopp) and my mom thought it would be nice to give me that as my middle name. It’s strange.”
If you look around the internet, you’ll find out that he was born with the middle names of “Maxwell Thornton”, however, he uses “Bopp” on all his documents.
“I wish I could change my name, but it’s not my choice,” he joked later.
Asa is also pictured below at Showcase Cinema de Lux launch event in Southampton, England earlier this week.
While on their road trip to find his father, Gardner (Asa) just can’t stop telling Tulsa (Britt) that she’s beautiful. We don’t get why she’d want that to stop at all, but you know, to each their own.
The flick centers on Gardner, the first child to be born on Mars and who is eager to travel to Earth, after beginning an online friendship with a street smart girl in Colorado.
When he finally gets to the blue planet, scientists discover that Gardner’s organs can’t withstand Earth’s atmosphere.
The Space Between Us will now hit theaters on February 3rd.
Asa Butterfield did something we probably never would’ve thought off for his new movie, The Space Between Us.
In the flick, also starring Britt Robertson, Asa stars as Gardner Elliott, a human born on Mars who’s never set foot on Earth. So, because he’s going to Earth for the first time, he had to at least walk like a Martian — and he used ankle weights to help him do it.
Asa actually wore ankle weights for 20 minutes a day while rehearsing and then watched the footage to determine what it looks like to carry around that much weight.
“We wanted it to be noticeable but not over-the-top,” he shared. “So it was a key balance.”
Asa, who’s pictured with co-star Carla Gugino and Spencer List at the New York City premiere last night below, loved the draw of the movie as a whole.
“I think it’s a very human story even though [my character is] a Martian,” he shared. “It really highlights how lucky we are to be on such an incredible planet, how we can’t carry on taking it for granted.”
Britt Robertson twirls around in her glittery gold dress at the premiere of The Space Between Us in Los Angeles on Tuesday night (January 17).
The former Life, Unexpected actress met up with Asa Butterfield on the black carpet to premiere their new flick, which hits theaters on February 3rd.
“[Tulsa] humanizes him,” Asa told reporters on the set while filming the movie. “Through her, he learns to understand what it means to be human. There are emotions that he figures out that he’s never experienced before.”
Britt adds about their characters’ relationship: “They meet for the first time – he’s bizarre, and he’s weird, and he’s everything she’s looking for in a way, because it’s not everything she knows.”
FYI: Britt is wearing a Miu Miu dress with Giuseppe Zanotti heels.
