The Locke & Key actress served as the drummer for Josie & The Pussycats on the CW series, and is speaking out in support of her co-stars’ statements amid the Black Lives Matter movement.
Asha retweeted an article about Vanessa‘s tweets, and she added, “Don’t even get me started with how Riverdale treated the Pussycats. We had so much more to contribute than standing in the background and adding sass to a storyline. I stand with you @VanessaMorgan.”
The show is based on the best-selling comic book, which follows the three Locke siblings and their mother after their father is murdered under mysterious circumstances.
The Riverdale actress has sold her first young adult novel “Hurricane Summer” to Wednesday Books, an imprint of St. Martin’s Press, reports Deadline.
“THE NEWS IS OUT. IM GOING TO BE AN AUTHOR. MY HEART IS BURSTING. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. So thrilled to go on this journey with @SaraWillowNYC and @WednesdayBooks!!!” she wrote on Twitter.
“Hurricane Summer” follows a girl visiting her estranged father in Jamaica in the middle of category five Hurricane Gustav. She finds her life unraveling when family secrets are revealed, alongside dealing with colorism, classism, colonialism, sexism, and what it means to discover your own voice in the center of complete destruction.
Asha is best known for playing the role of Melody Valentine, the former drummer of Josie and the Pussycats at Riverdale High School.
Congratulations Asha Bromfield on your first book!
Anyone else just wondering where the heck Valerie and Melody disappeared to on Riverdale?!
Asha Bromfield, who played Melody on the series, doesn’t know either.
During a recent Instagram Live, the actress revealed that there were plans to bring back the Pussycats in some capacity. However, the production team called her and Hayley Law about filming – and then they cancelled.
WHAT THE —-?! We need answers about this!
We’re still lacking more Josie (Ashleigh Murray) in our honest opinion too – although, that may be turning around. But still, we need more Valerie and Melody too!
Asha Bromfield is opening up about what she hopes to explore with her character on Riverdale.
The actress makes up 1/3 of Josie and The Pussycats on the show, and hopes to explore the humanity of the group.
“I would love for the characters to be explored in a three-dimensional way. I don’t know if I [necessarily] have a specific idea of where I think that it should go,” she told Teen Vogue. “Obviously, that would be up to the writers, but whatever they do decide to do, I want to see them be human. I don’t want to see characters fall into archetypes or stereotypes of what society thinks that they should be. I just want to see their humanity. I’d love to see their relationships [with] each other as a sisterhood. I’d also love to see some backstory about how they met and who they are as people. What are they interested in? What makes them laugh? What makes them cry?”
“By the end of the first episode, we will know who shot Fred,” Roberto said before saying that some of our favorite characters will be going through some major changes in season 2.
Riverdale returns on Wednesday, October 11 on The CW.

But maybe it’s not for KJ, but just for Archie instead…which causes us to wonder how he’ll get hurt in the future episodes.
The cast are wrapping up production soon on the first season of the show and star Casey Cott, who plays Kevin, shot his final scenes this week.
“Annnnnnd that’s a Season One wrap on Kevin!” he shared on Instagram. “What a joyful journey it has been. Completely filled with gratitude for everyone involved with Riverdale! NYC here I come!!!”
