Ashton Irwin was in for a surprise when he stepped out for the Rolling Stones‘ recent concert!
The 5 Seconds of Summer drummer attended the show with his bandmate Luke Hemmings at the Rose Bowl on Thursday (August 22) in Pasadena, Calif.
“I went to The @RollingStones the other night and I was front row and had my arms in the air,” Ashton tweeted on Saturday. “By freak coincidence Keith Richards threw his pick into the crowd and it landed in my hand.”
“One of the best moments of my life,” Ashton Irwin added. “Had to tell you 😂❤️.”

Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood and Ashton Irwin were seen sporting different Charlie Puth-related shirts on Friday (August 9) out in Los Angeles.

Just recently, Ashton revealed to 5SOS fans that the band just mastered their next single.
“We just finished and mastered the mix for our second single,” he tweeted just last week, and Luke had the best reply to get fans even more excited!
The news comes just as 5 Seconds of Summer are set to head out on tour later this month. Here’s hoping they play it!

The band posted a tribute honoring the anniversary of their debut, self-titled album on Instagram Thursday (June 27).
5SOS’ first album was released exactly five years ago, on June 27, 2014, and the guys – Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood, Ashton Irwin, and Michael Clifford – are grateful for the fans that have been with them since day one.
“5 years ago this album was released to the most wonderful fan base on earth. It took us 18 years to make this record. This period of our lives was insane and totally life changing,” 5 Seconds of Summer wrote on Instagram. “Love you if you listened!”

Over the weekend, 5SOS took the stage at the Capital Summertime Ball, but the real catch was backstage. In the dressing room next to theirs was none other than the Jonas Brothers!

The guys – Michael Clifford, Calum Hood, Ashton Irwin, and Luke Hemming – were photographed geeking out and posing for selfies with fans after doing a round of radio interviews at Global studios in London, England.
Ashton recently opened up about working on 5SOS’ new track, “Easier,” with Charlie Puth and Ryan Tedder.
“The work process for ‘Easier’ was broken up, because everybody was so busy,” he said. “Those guys wrote the core of the song. And terrific melodists in that room, I mean Charlie and Ryan together writing melodies is crazy, though. We really look up to them for things like that within the songwriting community. So we went in, we finished the song, we layered the 5 Seconds of Summer sonic on it. It’s very unusual to get your first single first. That song inspired a lot of the rest of the record.”

5 Seconds of Summer stop by SiriusXM Studios on Tuesday afternoon (June 4) in New York City.
The guys – Luke Hemmings, Ashton Irwin, Michael Clifford and Calum Hood – played a few songs for the show, including their newest track, “Easier”.
Over the weekend, 5 Seconds of Summer opened up with Billboard at Wango Tango about their evolution as a band.
“We just want to be a dynamic band throughout the whole of our career and this is just kind of another natural progression to this next chapter of us being a band,” Calum shared. “I think it’s a special one for 5 Seconds to Summer and it’s one that we really pushed ourselves to achieve and keep on achieving.”
Ashton added that they owe a lot to their fans, as well.
“We make our music not only for ourselves but for them,” he says. “They always accept what we do and I love that about them. We’re very lucky to have fans like that, not a lot of people do.”
