Bea Miller Opens Up About Seeing Music in Colors

Bea Miller Opens Up About Seeing Music in Colors

Bea Miller drops by the Elvis Duran Show in New York City on Friday morning (August 17).

The multi-talented singer performed one of her songs for the radio show after talking about her music that she’s been releasing all year long.

Speaking with Billboard earlier, Bea opened up about how she decided to release her new stuff in chapters.

“I have synesthesia,” she says, “which is when you see music in color. That’s why I’ve been using the colors because whenever we decided that we were going to release the music in chapters, rather than all at once, I was thinking, ‘well how do we take this farther? how do we expand on this and make it more creative?’”

Bea continues that the colors we chosen based on moods and emotions, rather than just choosing them because they’re primary colors.

“I was thinking…and it’s not 100 percent, but I’m thinking I wanted it (to be titled) something like Spectrum,” she adds about the title of the album.

“In the same sense the three primary colors can make any color on the spectrum, you need to experience emotions — the sadness, the loneliness from Chapter One, and the anger and empowerment in Chapter Two, and then the happiness and just trying to figure out and learn from your mistakes in Chapter Three — in order to be the best version of yourself that you can be.”

Bea Miller Gets Ready To Move On in New 'Warmer' Music Video - Watch Now!

Bea Miller Gets Ready To Move On in New 'Warmer' Music Video - Watch Now!

Bea Miller has debuted her next new video for “Warmer”.

The singer opened up about the track and feel of the video, which picks up right where “buy me diamonds” left off, and finds her considering a new relationship.

“When you’re my age, it’s hard for people to be on the same page or admit how they feel about one another all the time because times can be uncomfortable or scary or whatever else,” Bea shared with Paper mag.

“So we made a video of [my love interest] trying to return the necklace [to me] and me constantly trying to go to where he’s at while he’s trying to find me at the same time,” she adds. “I felt it was the best way to capture how annoying that can be but also how exciting that can be in a short amount of time.”

Bea Miller Admits New Video 'Buy Me Diamonds' Is Meant To Be Sarcastic

Bea Miller sits on the steps of her new apartment with her besties in her new “Buy Me Diamonds” music video.

If you’ve detected a hint of sarcasm in the song, it’s supposed to be there, according to Bea.

“[The song] is very sarcastic. I was thinking of this previous relationship, and at that point it was, ‘How dare you try to come back into my life after how you made me feel about myself?’”

Bea adds, “So the sarcasm stemmed from anger. But anger can be very empowering – I think it can be used to create something amazing.”
