Justin Bieber is opening up about how his life has been affected by black culture and how he wants to “be a part of much needed change.”
The 26-year-old singer wrote a message on his Instagram account to talk about the important issue.
“I am inspired by black culture. I have benefited off of black culture,” Justin said. “My style, how I sing, dance, perform, and my fashion have all been influenced and inspired by black culture.”
Justin added, “I am committed to using my platform from this day forward to learn, to speak up about racial injustice and systemic oppression, and to identify ways to be a part of much needed change.”
Justin has been very active on social media for the past week and a half while advocating for social justice and racial equality.
The married couple stepped out for a protest on Saturday afternoon (June 6) and fans think that they were in Mammoth Lakes, Calif.
Sophie and Joe, who are currently expecting their first child, were joined by their good friends Greg Garbowsky and Paris Carney.
Sophie, who captioned her post “No justice, no peace #BlackLivesMatter,” shared a video of herself joining in on the “no justice, no peace” chant at the protest.
A fan commented on the post and wrote, “I mean they’ve been arrested and charge [sic] with murder so there justice sooooo can we have peace now?”
Sophie responded, “This isn’t just about those 4 caps, this is about Breonna Taylor, this is about Trayvon Martin, this is about Eric Garner, this is about the systemic racism that black people have faced for hundreds and hundreds of years. This is about changing the system. Justice will be done when society reflects our beliefs that we are all equal. Until then there should be no peace.”
The 24-year-old All the Bright Places actor took to his Instagram on Friday (June 5) to share a post about the Black Lives Matter movement, while adding that black, queer people need to be part of the revolution.
“@nckash and I protested today in New Orleans. We chanted ‘Black Trans Lives Matter’ ‘Black Queer Lives Matter’ ‘All Black Lives Matter,’” Justice wrote. “As a black queer man myself, I was disappointed to see certain people eager to say Black Lives Matter, but hold their tongue when Trans/Queer was added. I want to reiterate this sentiment: if your revolution does not include Black Queer voices, it is anti-black.”
“The revolution is not about appeal,” Justice added. It is about demanding what should have been given to us from the beginning. What should have been given to black, queer, and trans individuals from the beginning. Which is the right to exist. To live and prosper in public. Without fear of persecution or threat of violence.”
Also in his post, Justice revealed that he is dating Queen Sugar actor Nicholas L. Ashe, calling him his “rock.”
There is so much tragedy on the timeline these last couple of days so I added some photos of me and Nic to show some #blackboyjoy #blacklove #blackqueerlove ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜,” Justice wrote. “You’ve been my rock and guiding light through all of this and I love you so much. I know that on the other side of this Is change, though the fight is far from over.”
The network revealed their decision, as protests for racial inequality press on, on social media.

Earlier this week, Nickelodeondefended itself after going dark for 8 minutes and 46 seconds to recognize George Floyd‘s murder.
“Unfortunately, some kids live in fear everyday,” the network responded to one parent who said the statement and commercial scared her own children.

The 21-year-old Black Lightning actress shared a new video on Friday (June 5) talking about one part of her experience as a black actress.
“I can’t tell you how many conversations, sometimes arguments, it’s escalated to that, back and forth with white people telling me what would be most authentic coming out of my black character’s mouth. That’s happened to me more times than I’m comfortable with, low-key,” she says on Instagram. “And I know some people might be confused by that, ’cause if they wrote it, or whatever the situation may be. There may be some people that are confused by that statement, so I’ll give you an example.”
“I can guarantee you that everybody of color in this industry knows exactly what I’m talking about. They could’ve finished my sentence before it left my mouth,” China added.
While the video is from February, Cierra shared it on her Instagram account on Friday (June 5) as it’s something that should be seen during the current Black Lives Matter movement.
“The Trouble With: Not Seeing Color,” Cierra wrote. “I’m just gonna leave this here.”
The PSA is in response to an episode of Good Trouble where Emma‘s character Davia is struggling to connect with her students and tells one kid that she doesn’t see color in her classroom.
