“I almost gave up on music last year. Then I wrote this song ['Figure Me Out']. It’s funny how the most important ones come to you when you least expect it,” Brian shared about the lead single.
He continued, “I was hiding away at my parent’s house in Arizona, afraid that none of the songs written for the record were cohesive and that we were missing something important, and then one night after midnight I wrote this song all alone on the piano in the house I grew up in. It was cathartic and it changed the whole album process for me. This song made the other ones make sense.”

Brian Dales plays the piano in the brand new video for The Summer Set‘s brand new single and video, “Figure Me Out”.
The group — Brian, Jess Bowen, Stephen Gomez, John Gomez, and Josh Montgomery — debuted the new song and video on social media tonight (January 21) after working on their new album, Stories For Monday, for over a year.
“Speechless right now. Can’t keep up with your responses. I’m so overwhelmed. Thank you. #StoriesForMonday,” Brian shared on Twitter. “Big shout out to @stephen_james and @thejohnset. They produced this record and brought this song to life in a way I couldn’t have imagined.”
Stories For Monday will drop on April 1st.

Brian shared of the record the track is off of, “This is our fifth year as a band and our third album, but it feels like the first all over again. It’s liberating. I feel like we’re starting to go in the direction we’ve always dreamt of. We can’t wait for our fans to experience this album!”
JJJ was lucky enough to hang with The Summer Set before their show in Detroit, Mich., on Tuesday night (November 3) and we found out that they love local bands and even more, country music.
Brian Dales, Stephen Gomez, John Gomez and Jess Bowen dished to us that The Format (a local Arizona band which has since broken up) and Jimmy Eat World are some of their favorite bands.
Brian even revealed that he’s a huge fan of Bruce Springsteen. He shared, “He’s my favorite.”
The foursome also told us that they can’t get enough of country music. They shared, “Country music tells a story. They [the artists] actually say something. More songs need to be written like country songs are. That’s the point, if you’re going to write a song, say something.”
Stephen joked after, “Our whole next record should be written like a country album.”
