Julia Lester is officially a Tony Award nominated actress!!!!

The 23-year-old High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star just received her first nomination on Tuesday morning (May 2).

While Julia proved to be a star in the making on the Disney+ series, it all really started happening when she landed the role of Little Red Riding Hood in the revival of Into the Woods for the Encores! 2-week engagement. Then, the show was moved to Broadway, marking her debut on the Great White Way!

Disney Channel stars have the TALENT!

Several actors who have starred in various projects, from movies to TV series, have displayed their unwavering talents on screen, and quite a few of them have gone on to do some big things.

One of those big things – Broadway!

While Disney Channel has kickstarted careers, there have been some actors who were on the Great White Way well before their Disney careers, and some who hit the stage after their time on the network.

Olivia Holt has just made her big Broadway debut in the musical Chicago!

The 25-year-old former Disney Channel and Freeform star hit the stage for her first night as Roxie Hart on Monday (April 10) at The Ambassador Theatre in New York City.

Olivia was seen taking a bow alongside Kimberly Marable, who also just debuted, as Velma Kelly, along with fellow newcomer Liam Fennecken as Amos Heart, as well as Erich Bergen, who returns to the role of Billy Flynn, and Charity Angel Dawson, who returns to the role of Matron “Mama” Morton.

Olivia Holt is opening up about her Broadway debut in the long-running show Chicago!

News of the 25-year-old actress and singer’s role was first revealed in early March, and she’s hitting the stage TONIGHT (April 10).

“can’t believe i’m typing this but i make my broadway debut tomorrow,” she tweeted the day before.

In a recent interview, Olivia shared what it’s been like rehearsing for the show and how she reacted when she first found out she booked it.

Seeing a Broadway show is one of the biggest draws of visiting New York City!

Many young actors and theatre students dream of hitting the stage on the Great White Way.

Throughout the year, there are 41 theatres that put on Broadway performances, with 500 or more seats each, with most doing eight shows a week.

The theatre scene in New York City has been around since about 1750, with thousands of musicals, plays, revues and more hitting stages over the years.

Since, there are several shows that have stood the test of time and have put on thousands of performances each, with some running for decades!

We are taking a look at the ten Broadway shows that have gone on for the longest amount of time in their original runs, while some have also seen a revival or two since. There’s one show about to surpass another to take over it’s spot!

Jordan Fisher and Gaten Matarazzo hit the red carpet for the official opening of their new Broadway musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on Sunday (March 26) in New York City.

The two actors star in the revival as Anthony Hope and Tobias Ragg, respectively.

This is also both of their returns to the Broadway stage after each starring in Dear Evan Hansen, at separate times.

Also in attendance at the Sweeney Todd opening were of course their co-stars Josh Groban, Annaleigh Ashford, Ruthie Ann Miles, Maria Bilbao, Jamie Jackson and Nicholas Christopher, as well as Frozen songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who worked with director Thomas Kail on the new Hulu series Up Here, Lin-Manuel Miranda and wife Vanessa, who worked with Thomas on Hamilton, Victor Garber, Lea Salonga, Chris Olsen, Ben Schwartz and Mean Girls movie musical’s Busy Philipps.

If you didn’t know, Sweeney Todd “tells the tale of a resourceful pie shop owner and a vengeful barber out for blood. After he’s sent away by a corrupt judge, Sweeney returns to London years later seeking his long-lost family, and forms an unlikely partnership with Mrs. Lovett, who serves up pies underneath his former shop. Together, they wreak havoc on Fleet Street and serve up the hottest – and most unsettling – pies in London.”

The Jonas Brothers kicked off their five night Broadway residency at Marquis Theatre on Tuesday (March 14) in New York City.

The sibling trio – Nick, Joe and Kevin – made their Great White Way debut as a band, and it was also Kevin‘s Broadway debut!

Nick and Joe are both no strangers to Broadway, and in fact, Nick performed at the same theater over 20 years ago in a production of Annie Get Your Gun, which started his professional career.
