Disney Channel's 'Bug Juice: My Adventures At Camp' Gets Premiere Date!

Disney Channel’s Bug Juice: My Adventures At Camp now has an official premiere date!

The Bug Juice reboot is an unscripted docu-series for today’s generation of kids, with animated emoticons, “boomerang” shots, and on-screen memes punctuating the summertime adventures.

The 16-part series chronicles the outdoor fun, team activities, new friendships, and the experience of being away from home for a new generation of kids at the popular Camp Waziyatah in Waterford, Maine.

Producers returned to the series’ original locale (the original series ran from 1998 to 2001) to film the myriad of fun activities as well as the challenges the campers face, including trying to fit in, being homesick, and the ups and downs of friendship. Through it all, viewers see the camper’s resilience and how they each come into their own through a summer of fun.

Bug Juice premieres Monday, July 16, at 7:30-8 p.m. EDT, and will be presented Monday-Thursday evenings throughout the summer on Disney Channel, the DisneyNOW app, and Disney Channel VOD.

Who remembers Bug Juice?!

If you need a refresher, Bug Juice was Disney Channel’s first-ever original unscripted show (named after the juice drinks served at summer camps).

It ran for three seasons from 1998 to 2001, and the catchy theme song is still stuck in our heads. (“Bug Juice, it doesn’t come in a jar; Bug Juice comes from who you are…”)

Now, 20 years after the docu-series was first filmed at Camp Waziyatah in Waterford, Maine, it’s coming back to our screens!

The new version will follow a group of kids, ages 10 to 12 years old, at summer camp.

Bug Juice took viewers on a journey of adventure and self-discovery,” Susette Hsiung, executive vice president of production at Disney Channels Worldwide, said in a statement. “We are thrilled to be back in Maine at Camp Waziyatah with the creative team from Evolution Media and many of the same crew members who produced the original series.”

Production is currently underway, and the series is scheduled to return in early 2018.
