Star Burkely Duffield (you remember him from House of Anubis) is featured in the latest issue of NKD mag and opened up about his on-screen sci-fi persona, Holden.
“The sci-fi aspect and the supernatural powers that are endowed to this character, are just really, really fun,” he shared. “You’ve got the fun, dramatic aspects, but then anything could happen, and the action sequences are really cool.”
Burkely adds of filming the sequences: “There were many days where it was me on a giant green screen studio, where you have a bit of dirt on the ground and a whole bunch of green and the directors are shouting things that are happening around you…you get to work really collaboratively with directors and writers to be able to create something that really isn’t there to begin with.”
With a second season coming, Burkely is excited for more: “I am excited to see where Adam [the director of Beyond] take these characters. The first season was so amazing to lay these ground rules and entire world out for the audience to live and breathe and understand where they live and what goes on. I think that as we explore the rest of the seasons I can only imagine that things are going to get more interesting and gritty.”
Beyond airs Mondays @ 8PM ET/PT on Freeform, or hop on the Freeform APP to watch the entire first season now!
“Paige will struggle a lot with who she is and who everybody wants her to be, and I’ve been there…It’s not a fun road to go down to look in the mirror and have absolutely no idea who you are, Bella told the audience (via Deadline). “Everybody will try to change you and with social media people will try to tear you down and make you something you are not.”
She added that her character “does fall in love with three characters, maybe four, who knows?”
Freeform is taking a different approach for their upcoming new series, Beyond.
During the panel at 2016 New York Comic Con, the network announced that on premiere night — January 2nd at 9PM — they will release the entire first season on multiple digital platforms, including the Freeform app, Freeform.com, On Demand and Hulu.
“The premiere of Beyond marks an important milestone in the history of Freeform, nearly a year since our rebrand,” Tom Ascheim, Freeform president shared. “One of the promises we made to our audience at the time was to create content they love and to make that content easily accessible. Beyond helps us live up to both promises. In the same way we modernized our brand, we are modernizing how we bring our shows to our audience.”
Beyond centers on Holden (Burkely Duffield), a young man who wakes up from a coma after 12 years and discovers new abilities that propel him into the middle of a dangerous conspiracy.
Now Holden must try and figure out what happened to him during those 12 years; how to survive a world that changed while he was gone; and answer the question, why did this happen to him?
Burkely Duffield stops by the Build Series at AOL HQ to chat up his new Freeform show, Beyond, on Friday (October 7) in New York City.
Later on, the 24-year-old Canadian actor was seen at the 2016 New York Comic Con for the panel event.
