Caity Lotz Fights Back at Haters With Body Positive Post

Caity Lotz Fights Back at Haters With Body Positive Post

Caity Lotz delivered a mega-empowering message about body positivity on her Instagram yesterday.

The DC’s Legends of Tomorrow actress snapped a pic of her bikini body, showing off her muscles she earned by playing Sara Lance on the series, along with a message to any haters about her physique.

“Some people think my body is too muscular, too skinny, too boyish. Some people will think it’s beautiful, powerful, sexy. Do I struggle with accepting my body type? Umm yes. Would I like having curves like @sofiavergara? Umm yes, but if we all looked the same that would be boring,” Caity writes.

She continues, “Like painting the sunset all in one color. All the ‘right’ curves in all the ‘right’ places? There is no right and wrong when it comes to the body God has given you.”

“I see a lot of online body shaming, if someone’s body is not to your liking…keep it to yourself. It’s not your body and making people feel insecure won’t help them and it definitely won’t help you. #bodypositive”

Amen, Caity!

Candice Patton Dishes on How 'Shethority' Collective Was Born & Future Of It

Candice Patton Dishes on How 'Shethority' Collective Was Born & Future Of It

Candice Patton and Caity Lotz started a female empowerment organization and you need to be paying attention to it.

In a new interview with E!, The Flash actress opened up about how Shethority came about during a hike, and what the two DC stars are hoping to accomplish.

“We were just talking about these conventions we go on a lot, and you know, we meet fans, we sign autographs, we take pictures, and we go home,” Candice explains. “A lot of our fans are young, they’re women, they’re women of color, and we don’t really get to have a dialogue with them in that medium at a convention. It’s two minutes and they’re ushered on and the next fan comes up.”

She continues, “We saw a desire from them to want to talk about seeing us on screen and the importance of being a woman and empowerment, so we wanted to create a place for young girls, women, and boys to speak on female empowerment.”

“The more that we have a dialogue about what we’re going through, the more I realize that we’re in this together, and we are stronger together,” Candice shares of the mission behind it. “We, Caity and I and some of the other girls in the DC TV universe want to create a space for young women to feel that empowerment too…that we have their back, that their voice matters, and they have a space to speak up and speak out.”

Shethority, which launched tee shirts late last year, aims to create a positive and inspirational space to discuss and conquer the unique challenges of the female experience in today’s world.

“I hope it’s a huge nonprofit,” Candice says, dreaming about what it could become. “I see mentorship programs where women in successful careers, whether it be film or TV or doctors or lawyers or people in STEM, reaching out to some of these young girls and being able to mentor them through Facetime or emails or short texts.”

She adds, “We have so many ideas, it’s just focusing them and getting each one done at a time, and we’d love to work with other organizations like Time’s Up. I think it could be a really powerful force for a lot of young women in the world.”

Supergirl‘s Melissa Benoist and Chyler Leigh, Arrow‘s Emily Bett Rickards, Katie Cassidy, and Juliana Harkavy, The Flash‘s Danielle Panabaker, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow‘s Maisie R. Sellers and Tala Ashe are all involved as well.
