Camila Mendes Talks Varchie on 'Riverdale': 'They've Definitely Been Friskier'

While Bughead may be on the rocks a bit on Riverdale, Varchie is heating up.

Camila Mendes didn’t waste any time in saying that Veronica and Archie are “even more sexual now” in season two, while chatting with EW.

She adds, “Death brings out certain passions or thirst for life. So they’ve definitely been friskier.”

However, that doesn’t mean that’s all this couple is about: “I think now because of all this darkness and stuff in Archie’s life and Veronica’s as well, their relationship does feel more grounded,” Camila says.

“It has more substance than just physical.”

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa says about this couple that “it’s sort of a bit more primal and volatile than say Jughead and Betty are.”

Riverdale returns on Wednesday, October 11th on The CW.

Camila Mendes Wants To Shatter Your Assumptions About Latinas To Pieces

Camila Mendes Wants To Shatter Your Assumptions About Latinas To Pieces

Camila Mendes isn’t a fan of the phrase “You’re Not Latina Enough”, and for good reason — it’s backwards and she’s not afraid to say so.

The Riverdale actress spoke with People Chica about the stigma around Latinas in Hollywood and how she’s trying to shatter it into pieces.

“I’m pretty new to Hollywood, but I’m already starting to see the issues in how some projects are cast,” Camila shares. “I often hear things like, “You don’t look Latina enough,” and that mentality is so backwards.”

She adds, “The fact is: I am Latina, so how are you going to tell me that I don’t look Latina?”

Amen, Camila!

“I’m a full-blooded Brazilian, with an entire extended family of Brazilians, but I was born and raised in the U.S.,” she adds about her cultural heritage. “When I go to Brazil, I feel like an American, and in the U.S., I always notice the traits that make me Brazilian.”

Camila Mendes Reveals She Just Started Seeing A Therapist & She's 'Stoked' About It

Many celebrities have been real advocates about going to therapy and talking with someone about anything and everything — and you can count Camila Mendes as one of them.

In a new feature from Byrdie, the Riverdale star reveals that she just started going to therapy.

“I’m super stoked about it,” she shares. “It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time, and considering how much my life has changed this year, I thought it was about time I check in with myself.”

Camila adds, “It’s been really difficult adjusting to the pace of this industry, everything moves so quickly and people are constantly coming at you with endless demands. I’ve had to make room in my life for so many new people and work obligations, that now I barely have time for myself, not to mention my family and friends.

“So to have that slotted time once a week to focus on myself is so essential to my well-being.”

Betty & Veronica's Fallout in 'Riverdale' Season 2 Will Be Intense

Betty & Veronica's Fallout in 'Riverdale' Season 2 Will Be Intense

The cast of Riverdale have been tight lipped on a lot of what season two has in store for us, but the one thing they have been vocal about is about an intense fight between our faves, Betty and Veronica.

“With any friendship, there’s going to be drama,” star Lili Reinhart shared with Elle mag. “They’re both dealing with such intense family drama. The mystery of season 2 revolves around Betty and takes its toll on Betty and her mental health, and that kind of puts a strain on her and Veronica’s friendship.”

She adds further, “They get into a fight and it’s the first time you see them go head-to-head and just really have a genuine fight, which you didn’t exactly see past the first three episodes in season 1.”

However, Lili reassures us that Beronica is still going to be a strong friendship in the show.

“They’re a really great female friendship,” she adds. “The friendship is still there; they’re still a crime-fighting duo, which you see more of. I love having scenes with Cami [Mendes]. I know how much people love seeing Betty and Veronica together.”

Riverdale returns in October on The CW.

'Riverdale' Deleted Scene Shows Veronica & Her Mom Struggling With Their New Life

At the beginning of season 1 of Riverdale, Veronica (Camila Mendes) and Hermione Lodge (Marisol Nichols) are struggling to adjust to their new life away from the luxuries of New York City, and a deleted scene shows just how hard that transition was for them.

Included on the deleted scenes on the season one DVD is a poignant moment from episode two, “A Touch of Evil.” Hermione tells Veronica she is applying to work at Pop’s Chock-lit Shoppe, and V is floored.

“Have you ever even worked?” she poses.

It’s a hard moment between mother and daughter in which they both realize how much they are going to have to change to adjust to their new life.

The Riverdale season one DVD is available now in stores.
