Candice Patton Predicts WestAllen Will Have a 'Long & Healthy Marriage' on 'The Flash'

Candice Patton is opening up about Barry and Iris’ recent wedding on The Flash inside her new feature with Bello magazine.

The 29-year-old actress knows that fans weren’t that happy about the Nazi plotline invading WestAllen’s nuptials, but, “at the end of the day fans are super happy that we finally had our fairytale ending and ended up together.”

Speaking of WestAllen, Candice reveals that the duo are in a good place right now coming up on the fourth season finale.

“Barry and Iris are pretty stable for the rest of the season,” she says. “They do have some small relationship bumps, just in terms of working together and figuring out the dynamics of that, but I think we can hope for a long and healthy marriage between Iris and Barry.”

Candice Patton Talks About The Importance of Barry And Iris’ Interracial Relationship on 'The Flash'

Whether you realise this or not, the interracial relationship between Barry Allen and Iris West on The Flash is really important.

In a new interview with Nerdist, star Candice Patton opened up about how having WestAllen be interracial is one of the things she’s most proud of on the show.

“I love that we have an interracial relationship on the show, and that it’s not questioned, and that it’s healthy and normal, and functional,” she says.

Candice adds, “The great thing about our show is how diverse we are with our casting [and] storylines, and it’s a show I wish I had when I was younger to be quite honest.”

“Seeing that kind of diversity [would have been important to me]. I like watching shows where I’m like, ‘Oh, this looks like my grocery store.’ You know, it’s diverse. I see different types of people and all different types of love.”

In an earlier interview, Candice emphasized the importance saying that it’s something that will “becomes normal and less fearful for people who haven’t seen interracial couples in their own neighborhoods and communities.”

“People see Iris and Barry and say, ‘Oh they’re just like us…a normal relationship.’ Having diverse storylines in general across film and TV impacts communities and [deep-rooted] mindsets.”

The Flash airs Tuesdays on The CW.

Iris West-Allen Revives Her 'Saved by The Flash' Blog on 'The Flash'

Iris West-Allen Revives Her 'Saved by The Flash' Blog on 'The Flash'

Iris West-Allen has left those temporary super powers behind and gave her blog, Saved By The Flash, a second chance at life on The Flash last night.

Candice Patton spoke to TVLine after last night’s episode about Iris’ decision to return to the world of journalism.

“Having Barry’s powers for an episode really made her realize what she’s passionate about,” she shared. “She understands that Barry having speed is what gets him up in the morning and is what he’s passionate about.”

She continues, “I think it reignited for her that she still has to find that, and that journalism is the thing that she kind of put to the side to take up the mantle at S.T.A.R. Labs, but it’s still a part of her, and it’s still the reason that she wakes up.”

Candice also reminded fans about that “article in 2024 we’ve got to deal with” too.

Candice Patton is suiting up on tonight’s The Flash — and we are 4794156239% here for it!

Talking with press about the special episode, Candice shared that it actually reignited her love for Iris in a way.

“Mot that it ever went away,” she says. “You do these shows for four years, 23 episodes [a season]. It kind of can feel monotonous…[it] reignited my love for [Iris] and her tenacity and courage and strength.”

Candice also spoke about how acting with a speed suit is much different for her, and how Grant Gustin helped her out.

“Grant, God bless him, he was giving me tips,” she shared. “He was like, ‘Don’t stand up straight and do it, because you’re going to look ridiculous. You literally have to hitch over.’ … It was weird and interesting and fun and challenging all at the same time.”

Candice adds, “It was great. I’m so happy that I got to do that. [But] I don’t know that I’d want to do it every day.”

The Flash airs TONIGHT @ 8PM ET/PT on The CW.

Candice Patton Acknowledges That Iris In a Super Suit on 'The Flash' Is One Of the Most Amazing Things To Happen

Candice Patton Acknowledges That Iris In a Super Suit on 'The Flash' Is One Of the Most Amazing Things To Happen

Tomorrow night, the world will be blessed with Iris West-Allen in a super suit on The Flash — something that Candice Patton isn’t taking lightly.

Speaking with Variety about the special episode where Iris temporarily gets Barry’s speedster powers, she dished on how it really felt.

“We’ve seen, in little ways, Iris and Caitlin and the other women on the show saving the day without powers, but there is something cool about seeing a strong, badass female superhero [too],” she says.

Candice added that seeing Iris in a super suit will give “young girls something to aspire to” and make them feel empowered — just like Wonder Woman did for many, including her.

“I walked out of Wonder Woman with my girlfriend Caity Lotz who’s on ‘Legends [of Tomorrow]’ going, ‘This is what white men must feel like every day!’ It’s important for young girls to walk out and feel empowered.”

The Flash airs Tuesdays @ 8PM ET/PT on The CW.
