Happy Lightning McQueen Day!!
To celebrate the occasion on Monday (September 5), aka 9/5 for Lightning’s number 95, Disney and Pixar debuted some closer looks at the upcoming new series Cars on the Road.
The soundtrack, a new three-minute clip and the opening credits sequence, along with new photos, were all debuted on the special day!

BFFs Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) hit the road in the upcoming Cars on the Road, heading east from Radiator Springs on a cross-country road trip to meet up with Mater’s sister.

The movie centers back on Lightning McQueen, when he finds that the racing scene isn’t the same anymore and realizing that he’s just not the rookie that he used to be.
Blindsided by a new generation of ultra-fast racers, including its biggest star Jackson Storm, who has speed that he can’t compete with but no heart for the sport, McQueen realizes that he had to find new ways to adapt, which he hopes he can do with the help of trainer Cruz Ramirez, or he’ll be pushed out of the sport he loves for good.

Cars 3 just introduced three new characters that will appear in the upcoming movie — and Miss Fritter HAS to be our favorite!
We mean, just LOOK at her!
She’s got this wicked saw blade stop sign, a chain nose ring and even horns — yes, HORNS!
In her bio, Miss Fritter, voiced by Orange is the New Black star Lea DeLaria, is a local legend at the Thunder Hollow Speedway demolition derby.
Her formidable school-bus size is intimidating, but it’s her smoke stacks of doom, razor-sharp stop sign and crazy collection of her victims’ license plates that usually steers her opponents in the other direction.
See? Coolest bus ever!
Cars 3 is out on June 16th.
We are six months out fromCars 3 racing into theaters this year… and Pixar is giving us a little sneak peek at two new characters!
Jackson Storm and Cruz Ramirez will join the cast of animated automobiles in the third film of the franchise.
First-time director Brian Fee shared the intros with EW and explained more about the story: “McQueen is not the young hotshot anymore, the kid he was back then in Cars…He’s in the middle of his life, and as an athlete, that’s getting up there. You have your whole life ahead of you, yet your career is starting to show its age.”
“He’s looking in the mirror and realizing, ‘I’m 40 years old,’ and dealing with the fact that the thing that you love more than anything else, you might not be able to do forever.”
He added about new kid Jackson: “[He] was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Everything comes easy to him, and everything about him says he’s faster, so much so that we’ve designed him so that even when he’s standing next to McQueen, McQueen looks old.”
