The Originals' Charles Michael Davis Could Be Playing Piano More on Final Season of the Show

The Originals' Charles Michael Davis Could Be Playing Piano More on Final Season of the Show

Many fans of The Originals know this, but Charles Michael Davis is an insanely amazing piano player.

Over the weekend, showrunner Julie Plec revealed to a fan who asked that his character, Marcel, just hasn’t had a good piano moment on the show in a while for good reason.

“Funny thing about Charles, he started taking lessons in Season 1 and I thought he was terrible!” she admitted. “So it never occurred to me to write in any piano scenes.”

But we think he changed her mind during their last Comic-Con: “He sat down in the hotel lobby and played and he was great. The lessons took!”

Writer Carina Adly MacKenzie also admits that she loves to hear Charles play too and has the perfect idea on how they can write it in.

“When I have downtime on set I always go sit in Charles’ dressing room. He plays piano, I sit on the couch, we don’t talk. I leave with all of my anxiety cured,” she tweeted. “He’s a magician. Marcel can play – Elijah taught him – we’ve just never seen it.”

Here’s hoping we see Charles play on the final season!

Charles Michael Davis Was Inspired by Paul Wesley To Direct on 'The Originals'

Charles Michael Davis Was Inspired by Paul Wesley To Direct on 'The Originals'

Charles Michael Davis is making his directorial debut tonight on The Originals.

The actor, who plays Marcel on the show, credited Paul Wesley for catching the directing bug.

“It all started from finding out that Paul Wesley had directed [on The Vampire Diaries] and just chatting with Paul,” he reveals. “This was season 1 of when we were shooting and they [Vampire Diaries] were still in season 4. But it just sparked the idea and I just started asking around.”

Charles added, “I became so curious. I got some tips, and then I started shadowing around season two, and then they gave [Joseph Morgan] an episode in season there and I watched and learned from Joe.”

Be sure to tune in tonight @ 8PM ET/PT on The CW.

Charles Michael Davis Opens Up About Making His 'Originals' Directorial Debut

Charles Michael Davis Opens Up About Making His 'Originals' Directorial Debut

Charles Michael Davis got behind the camera on this season of The Originals.

He is making his directorial debut with episode 7, which will likely air in late April/early May.

“I’ve been shadowing since Season 2. The experience was good. It was very involving,” Charles told Collider.com. “I used to play Poker, and it’s like any game that you play where you just don’t want to get up and leave the table because you’re so involved.”

He added, “It was great directing the cast members and to really see, from the other side of the camera, how they operate, what really works to serve the story, and how they bring that to the table, in their different styles. It was a really, really, really great experience.”

JJJ was actually on set back in season three and ran into Charles shadowing a director on set of Containment at the time. We can’t wait to see all his hard work play out on screen!

The Originals airs Fridays @ 8PM on The CW.

Is Charles Michael Davis' Marcel on 'The Originals' Corrupt By Power?

Is Charles Michael Davis' Marcel on 'The Originals' Corrupt By Power?

Don’t underestimate this handsome devil — The Originals Marcel has a lot of power.

“Let me put it to you this way there’s no supernatural demon that is resting inside Marcel and corrupting and making him lose his mind,” showrunner Michael Narducci recently shared about Charles Michael Davis‘ character in season four.

He adds that his story arc this season is “not an addiction metaphor; it’s not a possession metaphor. Marcel is the same Marcel he has always been, for better or for worse.”

“He is, for all intents and purposes, as strong and as lethal and as dangerous, and as immortal and indestructible as any of the other characters in this series because of what happened to him at the end of last season,” Michael says. “So then, the question becomes, is he corrupted by having that power? Is he going to become arrogant? Is he going to exercise compassion? That’s the journey that I’m interested in exploring as Marcel.”

Tune in to tonight’s new episode called “No Quarter” @ 8PM ET/PT on The CW.

What Will Happen With Klaus & Marcel in 'The Originals' Season Four?

What Will Happen With Klaus & Marcel in 'The Originals' Season Four?

It looks like the Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) drama is far from over on The Originals.

“The indignity of Klaus Mikaelson’s situation the last five years [is being] held captive by his surrogate son and forced to be an advisor to a king that he does not recognize,” executive producer Julie Plec told EW.

She added, “Also, [he knows] Marcel is actually singularly responsible for the fact he’s alive, because so many people have come to town in the last five years desperate to see him reduced to ash.”

The Originals will return midseason on The CW.

Both casts are also pictured at SiriusXM’s Entertainment Weekly Radio Channel earlier in the day.

Phoebe Tonkin & Joseph Morgan Tease 'The Originals' Time Jump at Comic-Con

Phoebe Tonkin & Joseph Morgan Tease 'The Originals' Time Jump at Comic-Con

Phoebe Tonkin, Joseph Morgan and Charles Michael Davis take a second out of signing autographs for fans for a pic during 2016 San Diego Comic Con on Saturday afternoon (July 23) in San Diego, Calif.

The three Originals stars joined Daniel Gillies, Yusuf Gatewood and Riley Voelkel, plus executive producers Julie Plec and Michael Narducci at the event just ahead of the panel.

The upcoming season will make a time jump, a short video confirmed at the panel (via TVLine) and shows Hayley caring for an older Hope.

“When we met Hayley, all she ever wanted was family,” Phoebe shared. “Through the events that happened, she created a family on her own with her daughter. I don’t think she feels alone – one, because she has five bodies in the back of her car – and because she has a purpose, a family-driven purpose.”

Julie added about losing Danielle Campbell and Leah Pipes, “It’s a hard thing to explain. You start to feel a redundancy of heroes. If you continue down a certain storyline, you’ll end up taking people in a direction that will isolate them. You get the urge to mix things up and to make things very tragic so that you can always feel fresh, and you don’t have nine people telling the same story. We needed to pull the family as tightly together as possible, and excise some of the characters who might conflict with [that plan].”
