Cher Lloyd heads into the ITV Studios for a television appearance on Thursday (September 15) in London, England.
Accompanied by her husband, Craig Monk, the 23-year-old singer stopped by Loose Women to chat up her return to the UK and her new single, “Activated”.
“I lived right in the middle of everything – it was craziness around that area,” Cher dished about her Hollywood life. “I lived quite high up and we’d have these helicopters flying over, cause over there it’s very extreme, and I’d be sat there watching TV one night and there was this big bright light coming through the window, and then they started speaking…And I swear it said ‘put the gun down’!”
She added, “I hid behind the curtains – I thought I was in danger!”
Even though the song isn’t an official single, Cher knew she had to make the video for her fans.
“I wanted to make this video especially for my fans because while this track isn’t an official single, the reaction has been so incredible that I really wanted to follow it up with something special as thanks for all the support,” she told Elle.
Cher Lloyd heads back to her car after a hair appointment in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon (August 18).
The 23-year-old “Activated” singer recently spoke with Marie Claire magazine about her new single.
“I think it’s the beginning of a brand new phase. A lot of things have changed for me within the past few years,” Cher explained of what the song means for her and it’s true meaning.
She added, “I took some time out from actually being directly in the spotlight to 100 percent concentrate on creating this record. Over that period of time I was so amped up for someone to hear something, and that is what this song is to me. The beginning of a new start. It’s a door-opener for the record.”
Cher Lloyd rocks out on stage for her performance at The Grove in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (July 27).
The “Activated” singer joined singer AJ Lerhman for The Grove’s Summer Concert Series, just a day before her 23rd birthday.
“Thank you for all of the lovely birthday messages!!!” Cher wrote on Twitter.
Speaking with Rolling Stone earlier about her new song, Cher opened up about making sure it was the right song for her.
“I wasn’t going to just record something and release sh** for the sake of having a song out,” she shared. “I wanted to feel something when I heard [it], and I wanted to feel like I did when I first started, like when I used to sing in my bedroom when I was 15.”

“I think when we first started writing ‘Activated’ – in the very beginning stages – I had said that I wanted a song [reflecting] exactly how I feel,” the 22-year-old singer told Rolling Stone. “[It's] this feeling that I have of just wanting to run as fast as I possibly can and just move.”
“I wasn’t going to just record something and release shit for the sake of having a song out,” Cher added. “I wanted to feel something when I heard [it], and I wanted to feel like I did when I first started, like when I used to sing in my bedroom when I was 15. I have a newfound respect for what it actually takes to create a record. When I was younger and just starting out, I was so naïve and lucky because everything got done for me. This is what it feels like to really make a record.”
