China McClain Posts Amazing Instagram Showing Off Her Natural Hair

China McClain Posts Amazing Instagram Showing Off Her Natural Hair

Descendants 2 star China McClain always looks stunning, both as her character Uma (listen to her new song here) and herself. In a revealing new Instagram, China opens up about her natural hair, which she often straightens, and societal beauty expectations.

In the Instagram, China is wearing a cropped black tee, oversized hoops, and her natural hair — and she looks flawless.

“Why do we let everyone else tell us what we should look like? How we should dress? How to wear our hair?” the caption reads, “What we can’t do based on our appearance or the color of our skin?”

She then gets into her decision to embrace her natural hair.

“Haven’t ever really worn my hair natural but I’m sick of straightening this magic,” she wrote. “I’m a black girl and I’m hella proud. And whether you are black, white, brown, yellow, red, green, or purple you should be proud too because you’re BEAUTIFUL. Okay I’m done, luuu you al.”

Many teens are commenting on the powerful post, sharing their own experiences being mocked or teased for wearing their natural, beautiful hair.

You look stunning China! Then again, you already know that.

China Anne McClain has a lot of exciting projects coming up!

Not only is she starring in the highly-anticipated Descendants sequel this summer, but she’s also the star of a new CW show titled Black Lightning.

The series is based on the DC comic about a superhero who hangs his hat to become the principal of a charter high school.

His daughters (one of them being China) also have powers and sort of get him back into fighting crime and saving the world.

We recently caught up with China and she’s pumped for Descendants fans to check out her new show too.

“I’m so excited,” she told JJJ. “It’s kind of the same field. It’s a fantastical world. I think they are going to love it.”

Descendants 2 premieres July 21 on Disney Channel and Black Lightning will debut mid-season on The CW.
