It has been several months since we last heard anything about the upcoming The Spiderwick Chronicles!
Now, a year after the show’s young lead actors were announced, it is being revealed that Disney+ has decided to no longer continue with the series adaptation.
The Spiderwick Chronicles is of course based on the books by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black, which had a film adaptation released in 2008.

Sharkboy and Lavagirl are making their return in the all new sequel We Can Be Heroes!
Original star Taylor Dooley returns as Lavagirl, while JJ Dashnaw takes over the role of Sharkboy, originally played by Taylor Lautner – and now their parents.
Here’s a synopsis: When alien invaders kidnap Earth’s superheroes, their children must team up and learn to work together if they want to save their parents and the world.
“Wanna feel old? Sharkboy and Lavagirl are parents now (and their daughter is played by Vivien Lyra Blair aka Girl from BIRD BOX),” Netflix wrote on Twitter.
The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl first premiered in 2005, and you can actually stream it on Netflix!
We Can Be Heroes, premiering on New Year’s Day (January 1), also stars Priyanka Chopra, Christian Slater, Pedro Pascal, Boyd Holbrook, Vivien Blair, and Haley Reinhart, as well as Akira Akbar, Brittany Perry-Russell, Dylan Henry Lau, Hala Finley, Isaiah Russell-Bailey, Lotus Blossom, Quinton Johnson and YaYa Gosselin.

Gina Rodriguez and Saoirse Ronan hit the carpet for photos while stepping out for HFPA & InStyle’s Celebration of The 2016 Golden Globe Award Season held at Ysabel on Tuesday evening (November 17) in West Hollywood, Calif.
The buzzworthy stars were joined at the event by Saoirse‘s Brooklyn co-star Emily Bett Rickards, How to Get Away With Murder‘s Aja Naomi King, Mr. Robot‘s Carly Chaikin, Rami Malek, and Christian Slater, and former Miss Golden Globe Greer Grammer.
Silicon Valley‘s Amanda Crew, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stars Chloe Bennet and Elizabeth Henstridge, Once Upon a Time‘s Robbie Kay, and Love & Mercy‘s Paul Dano were also in attendance.
