Revealed on EW today, the actress, who voiced the character in the animated series for years, will be playing Poppy Blu, a famous pop star and friend of Kim’s.
“I’m here to pick Kim up because Kim doesn’t have a driver’s license,” Christy shared, hinting at the nod to the animated series where Kim would call on many of her friends for rides all over the world. “She doesn’t have her driver’s license, but she needs to get rides from the Marines or famous people, if you remember, to get to her missions.”
She added, “Kim is just like every teenager, but she happens to know some really important people, and Poppy Blue happens to be one of those important people.”
Kim Possible is set to premiere on Friday, February 15th on Disney Channel.
The 18-year-old actress got a compliment on her work ethic and how she handles herself in the entertainment industry from the KP star.
“The ONLY way I would let my daughter be in this crazy business is if she can be the next @BaileeMadison This young lady is really lovely!” Christy wrote.
Bailee was so taken aback by the compliment, as we would be too!
“Oh my goodness…. I’m such a fan of yours. Thank you for the unexpected and beyond lovely words. You’ve made my day. Sending love to you and your daughter!!!!!!!!! And if she ever does decide to get in to this crazy business, she has a friend in me! Hugs,” Bailee thanked.
Christy‘s Kim Possible co-star Will Friedle also chimed in, “Yeah…@ChristyRomano is okay…,” with Christy adding, “Will – don’t mess this up for me man!” LOL!
The actress, who voiced the title character for four seasons from 2002-2007, made the announcement during D23’s Saturday Morning on the Lot event at the Walt Disney
Studios on Saturday (August 11).
Additionally, Patton Oswalt, who voiced Professor Dementor in the original series, will reprise his role in the remake!
Christy was accompanied at the event by her nephew Dominic.
“Having a blast tonight with my nephew and grabbing some auntie points! @radiodisney is so awesome! 🤪🎵🤘🏻,” Christy wrote on her Instagram.
The 2018 Radio Disney Music Awards will take place TONIGHT, Friday, June 22nd from the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, and air the next day, Saturday, June 23rd on Disney Channel, Radio Disney, the Radio Disney app, and the DisneyNOW app.
Speaking with ET, Christy did open up about voicing the iconic character and her thoughts about the movie.
“I was so honored to be able to bring this strong, positive character to life and am excited to see her empowering message influence a new generation,” she says. “That said, as an artist, there’s always a part of you that wants to stay connected to the character you helped originate.”
“I’m hopeful they’ll do right by Kim and my legacy,” Christy added.
So, could Christy be a part of the movie? She’s not saying no!
“I’d, of course, consider being involved if the circumstances were right.”

The ladies all starred in DCOMs in the past – The Even Stevens Movie, The Cheetah Girls, and High School Musical, respectively.
