Sad news for The Originals actress Claire Holt – she is getting a divorce from her husband of one year, Matthew Kaplan, her rep confirms to JustJaredJr.com.
The 28-year-old actress’ husband filed for divorce on April 27, just one day before the day they would have celebrated their first anniversary as a married couple. He cited “irreconcilable differences” in the court documents and listed their separation date as April 24.
Claire responded to the divorce petition on May 2 and said that the couple split on April 27, the day Matthew filed his documents. She also asked that her last name be legally restored from Kaplan back to Holt.
The couple tied the knot on April 28, 2016 after announcing their engagement during the summer of 2015.
Phoebe Tonkin might be on The Originals now, but she first brought Hayley Marshall to life on The Vampire Diaries.
The actress is paying tribute to the series, which concludes with an epic finale tonight, on social media.
“I cannot believe tonight is the last episode of #thevampirediares ever,” Phoebe wrote.
“You guys have been my family for the last 5 years, Julie and Kevin, thank you for inviting me onto the show in season 4, I owe so much to you guys and this incredible opportunity you gave me, my life would most definitely not be the same without it, and I am eternally gratefully.”
She added, “I love you all to pieces, congrats on such an EPIC 8 seasons.”

The 28-year-old actress joined her co-stars Grey Damon, Gethin Anthony, Michaela McManus, and David Duchovny for the event ahead of the debut of their show’s new season.

Claire Holt and Matt Kaplan are married!
The 27-year-old Originals actress announced on Friday (April 29) that she has tied the knot with her longtime partner.
Claire posted a photo from the big day, writing, “Mr and Mrs Kaplan. Thank you to our beautiful families for making the day so special.”
Earlier in the month, Claire teased the upcoming ceremony when she wrote on Twitter, “Happy Birthday to my almost Husband! You’re the best thing to ever happen to me. Love you.”
The couple got engaged in July 2015 and have since adopted an adorable puppy together.
