Did you hear the great news that Laini Taylor‘s “Daughter of Smoke & Bone” series is heading to the big screen?

Universal has recruited Joe Roth to produce the pic.

Ms. Taylor shared in a statement, “I am very excited that Joe Roth is going to bring ‘Daughter of Smoke & Bone’ to the screen. I am a huge fan of his big, gorgeous fantasy epics with powerful female characters. I can’t wait to see how he’ll bring my world to life on film. He’s the dream producer for this property, and I couldn’t be happier.”

In “Smoke & Bone,” Karou is a 17-year-old art student who has blue hair. She’s sent by her awful father on travels across the globe to collect teeth for an unspecified but creepy purpose. This leads her to an encounter with an angel and revelations about her family that lead her into adventures involving otherworldly beings. In the sequel, Karou must decide how far she’ll go to avenge her people and while she and her allies build a monstrous army in a land of dust and starlight, Akiva wages a different sort of battle: a battle for redemption. For hope.
