Danielle Bradbery Returns to 'The Voice' Tonight & Admits She Was Scared Her Entire Time on the Show in Season 4

Danielle Bradbery is making a triumphant return to The Voice stage tonight, four years after she won the show back in 2013.

The “Sway” singer opened up to WWD about her experience on the show back in season 4.

“My mom signed me up for The Voice because I was so shy and I wouldn’t do anything on my own,” Danielle admits. “I was just going to stick to singing in my room by myself.

But after an audition in Dallas, she was in.

“I was so scared, but when I did it, it was like: ‘Wow, this is an amazing experience,’” she adds. “But I was scared all the way through. I didn’t know much about the industry or anything, I just knew I loved to sing that that was my therapy.”

Danielle also spoke about keeping up with Blake Shelton, who served as her coach during her time on the show, revealing that he’s still supportive of her career, even if they don’t speak all the time.

“He did congratulate me on ‘Sway,’ so that was really sweet,” she shares. “And he recently tweeted about my song being in the top 50, which is really exciting, and I will be seeing him when I go back [tonight]. It’s going to be fun to show them how much I’ve grown and see everybody.”

Danielle Bradbery is about to release her brand new album, I Don’t Believe We’ve Met, and there’s not one thing you’ll find on the album that’s fake.

The 23-year-old singer spoke to Rolling Stone about the new record, saying that she wasn’t the Danielle who won The Voice anymore.

“I wasn’t a part of the writing on that first record,” she shared. “So I know the feeling of singing something that’s not really you. The whole thing was very much Voice-driven. Afterwards, I wanted to sit down, without all the craziness, and ask myself, ‘Who is Danielle?’”

Danielle adds, “I only want to do stuff that’s comfortable and true for me.”

She wrote seven of the ten songs on the record, and you can feel it in the music that it’s 100% her.

“This music falls back on so many influences I’ve had since day one. I want people from back home to listen and say, ‘Oh, she’s still that same girl.’”

Danielle is also pictured below at one of her album release celebrations at Hill Country on Wednesday (November 29) in New York City.

Danielle Bradbery‘s brand new album, I Don’t Believe We’ve Met, is out in just three days time and JJJ is so excited to hear it in full!

Speaking with Billboard about her new record, the “Sway” singer touched on wanting to be honest in all of her songs and revealed that she’s still in the relationship which inspired many of the songs.

Danielle shared that some of the storylines are things she was afraid of happening in her relationship and the emotions that come with those various scenarios.

“It was real feelings. I just went off of that and one thing led to another and I created all these songs that I wanted to put on an album,” she adds. “It worked out perfectly.”

“He has [heard the songs about him], and he’s still around,” Danielle says. “It was just a downfall. I feel like everybody has those moments.”

Danielle continues, “You go through a lot of that and you’re trying to figure it out together. Being in the world I’m in, it’s probably hard for him to grasp everything. He says he loves them and I’m like, ‘I hope so! I’m sorry but I had to write about it.’”
