Darren Criss just created an event that Broadway fans are going to love him for – get ready for Elsie Fest!
The 28-year-old actor is launching the outdoor music festival to make a “Coachella for showtunes” and he will be joined in the Big Apple by some of Broadway’s best talent for the event.
“I was at Coachella and thought ‘let’s do this for show tunes,’” Darren said in a statement. “Theater has been going through a wonderful shift in the past few years, from the type of work that’s being produced to the way it’s being consumed by the public. It’s more than showtunes on Broadway — it’s songs from film, TV and YouTube. Since the rules were already changing, I figured, why not shake up people’s ideas of where to watch the performers they love. Enter Elsie.”
Elsie Fest will take place on Sunday, September 27 at JBL Live at Pier 97 in New York City. Tickets are on sale now on Ticketmaster.
It looks like there is a little Glee reunion in the works as one of the show’s stars is in negotiations to join the cast of Ryan Murphy‘s American Horror Story: Hotel.
Darren Criss will reportedly play a recurring role on the upcoming season of the FX show and he will make his debut in the Halloween episode.
The 28-year-old actor “is in talks to play Justin, a Silver Lake hipster who heads to the hotel on Halloween with his equally hip girlfriend to escape pesky trick-or-treaters,” according to E! News.
It seems though that Darren‘s character is going to give too many room service demands and Kathy Bates‘ character, who is the head of the hotel, will give him a “Halloween trick they will never forget.”

“I can not say much of the film. I started shooting a week ago, but I think it’s a story very nice. It’s very exciting and I especially like the idea of ??going around Italy,” Darren shared of the film. “It’s beautiful landscapes are like candy for the Americans.”

Darren Criss posted a huge apology to Caitlyn Jenner after making an insensitive remark earlier this week.
Earlier this week, the 28-year-old actor joked about the 65-year-old former Olympian’s transition during a Hedwig and the Angry Inch performance by saying, “man, woman, moman, wan, Bruce Jenner, whatever you are.”
After much criticism, Darren wrote on Facebook, “I want to sincerely apologize to Caitlyn Jenner, all transgender people, and anyone who was offended for my words on stage during Tuesday evening’s performance. In no way do the remarks reflect my personal belief system or my support for transgender people.”
He added, “However, I do realize the severity of the comment and the weight that words can carry and for that, I take full responsibility. I commend Caitlyn on her strength and for spreading acceptance around the globe. I have been and remain a proud and unwavering ally of the LGBTQIA community, and will continue to walk alongside my friends on the road to full equality and acceptance.”
