Daya had a not so pleasant experience recently while in a studio session with a male producer.
The 19-year-old “Sit Still, Look Pretty” singer took to her Twitter account to share her experience and reach out for new producers to work with.
“i was audibly shushed at a session i was at the other day by a man for simply offering my opinion that i was flat on a note (which i was & he ended up discreetly changing),” she wrote. “it’s my voice and i can do whatever the f–k i want with it and if u patronize me that’s cool i’ll just find another one of u x”
Daya continued, “ppl forget sometimes that i have the power to sing what i want to and pick who i work with and if you’re an asshole there’s nooo way i’m coming back for round 2, i don’t care how many top 10′s you’ve had.”
She concluded her “rant” with an offer to any female producers. “anyways tryna work w more female producers so if ur out there hmu we gon make some fiyaaaa,” she wrote.

The 13-year-old singer was the recipient of the Rising Star Award at the 2017 Billboard Women in Music event on Thursday night (November 30) at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood.
Heidi Klum, one of the judges on America’s Got Talent, presented the award to Grace, who said it was a “life-changing” moment. Watch the acceptance speech video below!

The stars were all spotted serving purple pride at the Believer Spirit Day 2017 Concert presented by Justin Tranter at Sayer’s Club on Wednesday night (October 18) in Los Angeles.
Attendees and performers included Tinashe, JoJo, Daya, Justin Tranter, Courtney Love, Gigi Gorgeous, Darren Criss, Chris Colfer, Carly Rae Jepsen, Superfruit‘s Scott Hoying and Mitch Grassi.
The concert was a benefit for GLAAD in order to raise money and awareness for LGBTQ youth.
“I’m so excited to perform some of my music tonight with some of my amazing friends at Sayers Club. We are going to raise money, awareness and magic for lgbtq youth everywhere. It’s been too long since I’ve done a show, and tonight we are doing it for the right reasons. Xoxo,” Justin wrote on his Instagram.
Daya dropped her compulsively listenable new single “New” this week, a song she co-wrote.
“I’ve always been a songwriter,” the 18-year-old singer told Billboard for their Pop Shop podcast, “but I think I’ve grown a lot of confidence in myself the past couple months.”
Despite her obvious talent, Daya explains that she often works with collaborators who assume she is “this young girl who just doesn’t…have any ideas. Which is really dumb. It’s not how I would like to be treated.”
“So, I’ve put more pressure on myself to just force myself in these situations and just work even twice as hard as someone who maybe would be respected right off the bat. Just to be like, ‘Hey, I am a writer. I have these ideas. I should be respected as anyone else who’s in this session right now.’”
We applaud Daya for standing up for herself and her abilities.

The Grammy-winning “Don’t Let Me Down” hit-maker co-wrote the single with Stargate, Sir Nolan, James Newman and Leland and it’s the first taste of what’s to come from her sophomore album, the follow-up to her gold-selling debut LP Sit Still, Look Pretty.
“I feel like ‘New‘ really is an all-encompassing term for what’s happening in my career right now,” Daya told Billboard, following the news of her Interscope deal. “It’s a new beginning for me — and I don’t think people will be like, ‘Oh, she’s changed. She’s different.’ I think they’ll be expecting to come along with me on this journey, and they’ll realize that people do change. We’re all humans, we all go through phases.”

The ladies Fifth Harmony show off their sexy dance skills during their performance at 103.5 KTU’s KTUphoria 2017 music event on Saturday (June 3) at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York.
The four girls – Ally Brooke, Lauren Jauregui, Dinah Jane, and Normani Kordei – completely stole the show during the performance where they performed their new hit song “Down.”
Joining Fifth Harmony at the event included fellow musical performers Daya, Jason Derulo, and the Backstreet Boys.

Bella Hadid, Daya and Peyton List are celebrating high school seniors headed to college!
The trio stepped out at MTV’s annual College Signing Day on Friday (May 5) at The Public Theater in New York City.
Other attendees included Ashley Graham, Nick Cannon and iJustine.
They were also joined by Michelle Obama, who was hosting her first event since leaving in the White House.
Bella, who at one point took the stage with Ashley to talk about their college experiences, seemed more than thrilled to be at an event with Michelle.
“I love you so much, my First Lady!” Bella wrote on her Instagram story.
