Degrassi is known for not shying away from tough issues and seeing how each of their characters react to it.
In the upcoming season of Degrassi Next Class, the Netflix show will take on the abortion storyline once more and viewers will get to see Lola, played by Amanda Arcuri, go through with the procedure and viewers will be inside the room with her.
“We’re constantly reading the stats and keeping apprised as to what’s happening and also have our finger on the pulse of some of the scary right-wing thinking that’s out there,” series co-creator Linda Schuylershared about the decision for the story. “We’ve also done an equal number of stories of kids who get pregnant and make different choices.”
She adds, “So it’s not like we are advocating, ‘Get pregnant, get an abortion.’ But we really felt that it was very important, particularly in this day and age when the abortion debate is coming back on the main stage, that we wanted to demystify it.”
“Our message is not: ‘Use abortion as birth control.’ Far from it, but we also want to respect the dignity and the rights of a young woman to be able to make her own informed choices.”

The new trailer for Degrassi: Next Class is even more heart-stopping than the first!
The brand-new visual shows the students of the school finding out about the crash and being stopped dead in their tracks as they comprehend what’s going on and what’s going to happen.
Degrassi: Next Class‘s third season will center on the aftermath of the bus crash which was transporting a number of the school’s students to an away volleyball game.
The new season will also welcome to new students Parham Rownaghi and Dalia Yegavian as Saad Al’Maliki and Rasha Zuabi, two Syrian refugees who will be transferring to the Canadian high school.
The show will premiere on Friday, January 6th on Netflix.

If you watch the show on Netflix, you know that at the end of season 2, a bus full of Degrassi students involved in a potentially fatal accident.
We watched Maya (Olivia Scriven), Grace (Nikki Gould), Zig (Ricardo Hoyos), Tristan (Lyle Lettau), Jonah (Ehren Kassam) and Tiny (Richard Walters) all flip over in the bus which crashed on the side of the road — and still know literally nothing about who survived… although at least one student is in critical condition.

The Silence Ends January 6th – Degrassi: Next Class Season 3
If you love Degrassi as much as we do, then you know that Nina Dobrev starred on the series with Drake back in the day!
Well, the two stars reunited on stage while attending the 2016 American Music Awards held at the Microsoft Theater on Sunday (November 20) in Los Angeles.
Nina and her BFF Julianne Hough were on hand to present the award for Favorite Album – Rap/Hip-Hop to Drake for Views.
“Thank you very much! Me and Nina were on Degrassi together, by the way. We’ve come a long way, you know. Congratulations on all your success!” Drake said before accepting his award.
This is the reunion we never knew we needed!
FYI: Nina is wearing a Zuhair Murad outfit with Stella Luna shoes and an Edie Parker clutch.
The 29-year-old actress appears in the short teaser, along with alums Adamo Ruggiero (Marco), Miriam McDonald (Emma), Shane Kippel (Spinner) and more.
“I got to see Paige again, and ?I missed her so much. Weird, since Lauren and I are BFFs in real life,” Adamo shared with EW. “I hope I see her again soon – Paige, not Lauren.”
The reunion, which premieres on Friday, July 22nd, commemorates the franchise’s 500th episode and also kicks off the second season of Degrassi: Next Class on Netflix.

Along with Ricardo Hoyos and Sara Waisglass, the three Degrassi stars took the city by storm, promoting their new Netflix show, Degrassi – Next Class.
