Demi Lovato Is 'Blessed' For Her 'Miracle Day' 2 Years After Overdose

Demi Lovato is celebrating life on a very somber anniversary.

It has been two years since the 27-year-old singer and actress was hospitalized following an overdose.

Demi took to social media to open up about the day which calls her “miracle day.”

“Today is my miracle day. I’m so blessed to have one. It represents how the Dr’s at Cedar’s Sinai saved my life. How my life has become something beyond my wildest dreams,” she wrote. “Only 2 years after that terrible day, I’m engaged to the love of my life, and I can genuinely say I feel free of my demons. Each and every one. I never thought this feeling was possible. And it’s not just because I fell in love (Although that didn’t hurt), but because over the past 2 years, I’ve done more work on myself than I have in my entire life.”

“Things that used to keep me down for weeks or even months, pass like tropical storms because my relationship with God has provided me infinite security,” Demi continued. “Long before I had an engagement ring on my ring finger, I had the word ‘me’ to remind myself that no matter what, I vow to love myself. You can’t fully love another without loving yourself first.”

“Thank you God for this peace and understanding but most of all giving me the strength to fight through my darkest times. Thank you to my family, friends and fans for always supporting me and respecting my privacy regarding this journey.. I love you all,” she concluded.

Demi‘s fiance Max Ehrich shared his support for her.

“I couldn’t not video this moment. You are the most resilient, strong, compassionate, beautiful angel. I cannot imagine my world without you in it and I’m grateful beyond words that God kept you here. I love you so much and can’t wait for our future. ❤️,” he commented on her post.

Demi Lovato and Max Ehrich are engaged!

The 27-year-old singer announced on Wednesday (July 22) that the 29-year-old Young and the Restless actor has asked her to marry him.

“When I was a little girl, my birth dad always called me his ‘little partner’ – something that might’ve sounded strange without his southern cowboy like accent,” Demi wrote on Instagram along with tons of photos of her new ring. “To me it made perfect sense. And today that word makes perfect sense again but today I’m officially going to be someone else’s partner.”

Demi and Max first went public with their relationship back in March and have been by each other’s side ever since.

“@maxehrich – I knew I loved you the moment I met you,” Demi continued. “It was something I can’t describe to anyone who hasn’t experienced it firsthand but luckily you did too.. I’ve never felt so unconditionally loved by someone in my life (other than my parents) flaws and all. You never pressure me to be anything other than myself. And you make me want to be the best version of myself. I’m honored to accept your hand in marriage. I love you more than a caption could express but I’m ecstatic to start a family and life with you. I love you forever my baby. My partner. Here’s to our future!!!! 😩😭❤️🥰😍”

Demi Lovato Says She Lost The Joy of This Throughout Her Career

Demi Lovato dishes on what she wants out of her career.

The 27-year-old singer and actress says she doesn’t want her work to be focused on her body, but about her music and her message.

“I want a career that has nothing to do with my body,” Demi told Bustle. “I want it to be about my music and my lyrics and my message. And I want a long-lasting career that I don’t have to change myself for.”

“Music brought me so much joy when I was younger, and I lost that joy throughout the hustle and bustle of the music industry,” she added. “I got miserable. And I don’t ever want it to be like that again. That’s what I want.”

In case you missed it, see what Demi and her manager Scooter Braun shared about the beginning of their working relationship and how it almost didn’t happen.

Demi Lovato Shares What It's Like Going Into a Crisis Not About Herself

Demi Lovato is speaking out about quarantine.

The 27-year-old opened up in a new interview with Bustle about going into the pandemic, and a crisis that was spawned from her own personal behavior.

“It’s very common for people to only really work on themselves when crisis happens or when they notice that they’re slipping into old patterns or behaviors,” she said. “So to be able to walk into this experience without a personal crisis and just be like, I can do the work on myself now because I have the time. … It was a beautiful thing.”

“I wasn’t in rehab; I was outside in the world with Netflix. So when I was too tired of therapy, I’d put on Schitt’s Creek,” Demi added.

“I was given this opportunity,” she continued. “And I was like, I’m going to adapt. I’m going to shift to this. I’m going to learn from it.”

If you missed it, earlier this year, Demi helped launch a mental health fund to help those in need during the pandemic.

Scooter Braun Didn't Want to Sign Demi Lovato At First

Scooter Braun Didn't Want to Sign Demi Lovato At First

Demi Lovato and Scooter Braun are opening up about their partnership!

Last May, the 27-year-old entertainer signed with Scooter to be her new manager, and they recently dished on how it all went down.

“In the past, I projected my own abandonment issues onto other people, especially male figures that I looked up to as father figures,” Demi told Bustle about switching up her managers. “I had to reflect on, ‘What do I want my relationship with my manager to look like without enmeshing my own father issues onto him?’”

“I’ve been through that with Justin … I’ve been through that with Ariana, you know?” Scooter added about going through trauma and mental health struggles with artists. “I felt like, because I’ve been through that a couple of times with people who started off very young, I can understand [Demi’s] struggles a little bit.”

Scooter then revealed that during their first meeting, he was ready to not take her on.

“My intention was to be respectful and decline,” he said. “She was nervous … What I saw is that she needed someone who didn’t need her. And about halfway through the meeting, [my partner Allison Kaye and I] both looked at each other and instinctually kind of laughed. And then Allison texted me and goes, ‘You’re thinking the same thing I am.’ I knew I could help her. I knew Allison could help her. I knew that we were in a position, in our lives and our careers, that if Demi needed to take three years off, she can do that. And if Demi needs us to go and have an honest conversation and get her out of something, it doesn’t affect my reputation.”

“I was nervous because I wanted him to manage me so bad, and I was terrified of rejection,” Demi said. “Also, having gone through such a public overdose, I didn’t know if anyone would want to manage me after that.”
