While speaking with ET about her new music, the 23-year-old actress and singer opened up about the possibility of doing more projects within the franchise.
While she’s very excited about the potential for more stories, Dove doesn’t love the idea that Cameron Boyce isn’t there.
“I don’t love the idea of doing it without Cameron, I don’t know what the plot would be and I don’t know what it would look like,” she shared. “But I also love the franchise and I love [director] Kenny [Ortega], and I love Disney and I love that cast. I loved that time in my life.”
With or without her, Dove is looking forward to the next installments, whatever they might be.
Cameron passed away after an epileptic seizure this past July.
Speaking with J-14 recently, the King Ben of Auradon actor revealed that he’s definitely open for any future projects.
“It’s a great franchise, and it was a lot of fun to be a part of,” Mitchell says. “There’s a few things that…I don’t know yet. There’s always a chance on the horizon. I’d be excited to do it.”
Mitchell adds that while he hasn’t heard of any new project as of yet, he’d still return as Ben.
“He’s just such a pure, benevolent character and it always make me feel nice, kind of changes of my behavior,” he shared. “When you play a character, you kind of subconsciously start adopting a few of those traits, so it was always really nice playing Ben.”
Descendants 3 wrapped up an amazing story for the core VKs this summer, however, Dove Cameron is still open for more.
In a recent interview with Digital Spy, the 23-year-old actress shared that not only she’d be open for more one day, she’s looking forward to the next installment.
“To be completely honest, as an actor who is not beholden to Disney, I would say that I think it would be smart for them to capitalize on the brand that they created,” Dove shared. “I think it would be smart to do maybe a spin-off with maybe the younger characters.”
She adds, “I have not heard anything about that. I know that Disney has been very specific about saying that this world doesn’t really ever end, it goes on forever and the possibilities are endless.”
There’s also still hope for a Mal cameo, too.
“Also, I may or may not have heard something about something that I might be doing involving the franchise. I would never say that it’s over, but I also would never confirm anything at this time. I would be open to doing more.”
You can stream Descendants 3 now on the DisneyNOW App.
In the short, Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos wander into some wicked woods and get spooked by Uma and Audrey. A headless horseman then comes in the mix and scares them all.
