Billy Crystal aka Mike Wazowski Gives Update On 'Monsters, Inc' Series 'Monsters At Work'

We’re finally getting a new update on the upcoming Monsters, Inc. series for Disney+!

Star Billy Crystal, who voices Mike Zazowski, recently opened up about the new show, Monsters At Work, which is a sequel series to the original movie.

“It’s fantastic looking, it’s hilarious, and we’re having a lot of fun doing it,” he told Collider. “We’ve done a bunch [of episodes]. We’ve been on a break because of the pandemic. But some I was able to do at home and some I was able to do in a very deserted studio out in Burbank. To be the only one on the lot was a little weird. But yeah, we’re progressing. I don’t know when they’re gonna start [being released] but I promise you they’re really good.”

Here’s a synopsis: The series picks up six months after the original movie story, with the Monsters, Inc. power plant now harvesting the laughter of children to fuel the city of Monstropolis, thanks to Mike and Sulley’s discovery that laughter generates ten times more energy than screams.

Monsters At Work follows Tylor Tuskmon (Ben Feldman), an eager and talented young mechanic on the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team (MIFT) who dreams of working his way up to the factory Laugh Floor to become a Jokester alongside his idols Mike and Sulley.

The news was first announced back in 2019, with a 2020 release date, but of course, it’s been pushed back to 2021 like many other new movies and shows.

Monsters, Inc stars will return to voice their characters, including Billy as Mike, John Goodman as Sulley, John Ratzenberger as Yeti and the new character, Bernard, Jennifer Tilly as Celia Mae, and Bob Peterson as Roze, twin sister to his original Monsters, Inc. character, Roz.

Other new voices and characters include Kelly Marie Tran as Val Little, Tylor’s lifelong friend and confidante; Henry Winkler as Fritz, the scatterbrained boss, Lucas Neff as Duncan, an opportunistic plumber, Alanna Ubach as Cutter, the officious rule follower, Stephen Stanton as Smitty and Needleman, the bumbling custodial team and Aisha Tyler as Tylor’s mom, Millie Tuskmon.

Author Rick Riordan Has New Update On 'Percy Jackson' Series for Disney+

Author Rick Riordan Has New Update On 'Percy Jackson' Series for Disney+

Rick Riordan is sharing some news regarding the upcoming Percy Jackson series heading to Disney+!

The author of the series took to his website to share a little update on the progress of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

“We have a couple of important meetings this coming week with the top brass at the studio for the Percy Jackson TV show, so keep your fingers crossed,” he wrote. “Everyone who has read the pilot script loves it, but there will be a few additional tweaks we need to make before we send it off to its next stop: the top execs at Disney+. That’s normal.”

“In script writing, as in every other kind of writing, you can expect to do many, many drafts! All the input has been super positive and helpful, though,” Rick continued. “Everyone is committed to making this the best show we possibly can. I remain excited and guardedly optimistic that we are on the verge of getting a really first-rate project off the ground. As always, though, good things require time and patience! Stay tuned!”

Last summer, Rick slammed the movie versions of his book series.

Unlike the movies, which have received a lot of criticism for how they are different from the books, Rick and his wife have assured that they are very involved in the upcoming series, from writing to producing, to make sure that it will be the best adaptation it can be!

New 'Frozen' Short 'Myth: A Frozen Tale' Coming To Disney+!

New 'Frozen' Short 'Myth: A Frozen Tale' Coming To Disney+!

There’s another new Frozen short coming out on Disney+!

It was just revealed that Myth: A Frozen Tale will premiere on the streaming platform on February 26th, Collider reports.

Myth is “structured like a bedtime story (with new dialogue provided by Evan Rachel Wood), it explored the elemental spirits from the film in a dazzling, uniquely stylized way, working as both a prologue to the film and a standalone marvel.”

It actually first was available as a VR short film at the Frozen 2 premiere, then became available if you had an Oculus VR headset. Now, a “flat” version will be released on Disney+ for everyone to watch!

“I kind of approached it too like, I always try to find something that connects to me personally in whatever film I’m directing, whatever I’m creating. And for me, I loved bedtime stories growing up,” director Jeff Gipson told Collider about the short.

“My family would tell me bedtime stories and I just loved how my mind would kind of drift to this magical place. And I started to imagine what was a bedtime story that you were told if you grew up in or around Arendelle. and Myth came about of that, just kind of setting it up with these magical elemental spirits that are such a big part Frozen 2,” he added.

Myth: A Frozen Tale will premiere just four months after the last Frozen short, Once Upon A Snowman, premiered. We love all of this extra Frozen content!

Check out the VR trailer to get a small sense of what to expect…
