Grace VanderWaal, Judy Greer & More Premiere New Movie 'Hollywood Stargirl'

Grace VanderWaal and Judy Greer snap a cute photo together while attending the premiere of their upcoming movie Hollywood Stargirl held at El Capitan Theatre on Monday (May 23) in Hollywood.

The ladies were joined at the premiere by their co-stars Tyrel Jackson Williams, Elijah Richardson, Chris Williams, Judd Hirsch, Al Madrigal and Nija Okoro.

Also in attendance were the movie’s writers Jordan Horowitz and Julia Hart, who also directed.

In Hollywood Stargirl, when her mother Ana (Greer) is hired as the costume designer on a movie, they relocate to L.A., where Stargirl quickly becomes involved with an eclectic assortment of characters. They include aspiring filmmaking brothers Evan (Richardson) and Terrell (Williams); Mr. Mitchell (Hirsch), one of Stargirl’s neighbors; and Roxanne Martell (Uma Thurman), a musician Stargirl admires and encounters on her journey.

The new movie, which also features the original song “Figure It Out” by Grace, will be out on June 3rd on Disney+. Check out the trailer here!

'To All The Boys' Actress Sarayu Blue Joins Upcoming 'Stargirl' Sequel at Disney+

Sarayu Blue is jumping from Netflix to Disney+!

The To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before actress is set to join the cast of the upcoming Stargirl sequel, Deadline confirms.

Sarayu will play Alex, an up-and-coming film producer, along with three other new additions, Al Madrigal (center photo) as Iggy, the MC at a local music club; Chris Williams (right photo) and Nija Okoro as George and Daphne, the parents of Evan and Terrell, who “rent an apartment to Stargirl and welcome her into their family.”

The sequel will follow Stargirl’s journey out of Mica and into a bigger world of music, dreams and possibility.

Tyrel Jackson Williams Joins the Cast of the Upcoming 'Stargirl' Sequel

Tyrel Jackson Williams is the latest star to join the cast of the Stargirl sequel!

The 24-year-old actor will play Terrell, Evan’s older brother and an aspiring filmmaker, according to Deadline.

“Ngl this is a pretty incredible late birthday gift. I’m so excited to be a part of this project with such amazing people,” Tyrel wrote on Twitter.

“I’m pretty darn excited too 😍😍😍,” director Julia Hart replied to his tweet.

If you didn’t know, Evan will be played by Elijah Richardson and will be Stargirl’s new love interest.

Also new to the cast is Judd Hirsch, who will be one of Stargirl’s new neighbors, Mr. Mitchell.

Tyrel is no stranger to working on Disney projects. He previously starred on Lab Rats: Bionic Island, and has appeared on Mighty Med, Good Luck Charlie, Pair of Kings, Future-Worm! and Modern Family.

Judd is also familiar to Disney projects. He’s previously appeared in Big Mouth as Lewis Glouberman, as Ben “Pop-Pop” Goldberg on The Goldbergs, as well as ABC’s Forever, and he played himself in The Muppets movie.

Uma Thurman Joins The Cast of the Upcoming 'Stargirl' Sequel

Uma Thurman is the newest addition to the new Stargirl sequel!

The actress has joined the cast as Roxanne Martel, a musician Stargirl admires and encounters on her journey, THR reports.

The upcoming sequel will be an original movie that “follows Stargirl’s journey out of Mica and into a bigger world of music, dreams and possibility.”

Uma is no stranger to musicals or musical projects. She previously starred in the 2005 movie The Producers, alongside Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane. She also appeared in a recurring role on the TV series Smash, as well as having musical moments in Pulp Fiction and Beautiful Girls.

Grace VanderWaal is set to return as Stargirl, with the addition of Elijah Richardson as the new romantic lead.

It was also revealed that Judy Greer has joined the sequel as Ana, Stargirl’s mom. The two will be moving to Los Angeles where Ana will be working on a movie, according to Deadline.

Judy‘s casting is a bit of a switch up, as Sara Arrington played the character in the first movie.

This just in – a Stargirl sequel is officially in the works at Disney+!

Director Julia Hart and star Grace VanderWaal are both set to return for the follow-up, THR reports.

Julia and Jordan Horowitz, who co-wrote the first movie with Kirsten Hahn, “have written the original script that follows Stargirl’s journey out of Mica and into a bigger world of music, dreams and possibility,” the site says.

Grace will also write and perform new original music for the sequel.

Elijah Richardson, who played Al Morris in When They See Us, is set to play the new romantic lead.

It’s been almost a year since Stargirl first premiered on Disney+. The first movie starred Grace and Graham Verchere, and was based off of the novel of the same name by Jerry Spinelli.

Collin Blackford Reveals How Much Food He Really Ate While Filming 'Stargirl'

Collin Blackford was a standout in the latest Disney+ movie Stargirl!

The teen actor plays Benny Burrito in the flick, which stars Grace VanderWaal in the title role.

Speaking with JJJ, Collin revealed how many burritos he had to eat for the movie.

“I ate about 40 burritos, 6 hot dogs, popcorn, pizza and a huge bag of chips while filming Stargirl,” he said. “I even had a spit bucket for the burrito scenes!”
