You read right — Doctor Who is indeed coming to Disney XD.
Starting on Saturday, May 9th, the network will feature a preview airing of the season two, episode one “New Earth”, following the premiere of Fantastic Four.
In “New Earth,” the Doctor (David Tennant) and Rose (Billie Piper) board the TARDIS for new adventures in time and space. But when they visit mankind’s new home, far in the future, they find gruesome secrets hidden inside a luxury hospital. And an enemy thought long since dead, the paper-thin Cassandra, is out for revenge.
Disney XD will then continue to air the rest of the season starting on Saturday, June 13th. The special week-long programming event will give fans eight episodes through to Saturday, June 20th.

This iconic series features the high-quality, high-stakes action and adventure storytelling that our viewers love. The show headlines one of the most charismatic lead characters in television in the form of the Doctor and showcases a compelling rogues’ gallery of villains from around the universe,” Marc Buhaj, Senior Vice President, Programming and General Manager, Disney XD said.

Super exciting news for all fans of Maisie Williams – she just landed a guest starring role on Doctor Who!
The 17-year-old Game of Thrones actress will appear in the upcoming ninth season of the hit BBC series and we can’t wait to find out more about her character.

“I’m so excited to be working on Doctor Who as it’s such a big and important part of British Culture. I can’t wait to meet the cast and crew and start filming, especially as we’ll be shooting not too far from my home town,” Maisie said in a statement.
“We’re thrilled to have Maisie Williams joining us on Doctor Who. It’s not possible to say too much about who or what she’s playing, but she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell,” lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat added in his own statement.

After rumors upon rumors, upon rumors, we finally got our answer about Jenna Coleman leaving Doctor Who — she isn’t!
“It’s wonderful,” the 28-year-old actress shared after the Christmas Special aired on Christmas Day (December 25).
Jenna added, “I get a whole other series of stories with the Doctor, and I couldn’t walk away with the story being unresolved…I think [Clara and the Doctor] finally just reached a point where they really understand each other.”
JJJ could not be more excited about this — are you glad Clara will be around for more adventures on the TARDIS?
Is she going, or is she staying? Jenna Coleman sure knows how to play with JJJ‘s emotions here.
In the latest reports about her character Clara leaving Doctor Who, apparently she’ll be staying on the show with Peter Capaldi!
The Mirror reports that Jenna “had a change of heart about departing and asked to remain for the first half of the new season, to be broadcast next autumn.”
However, the BBC is still keeping mum on the situation. They told RadioTimes, “This is speculation so we won’t be commenting. Viewers will have to watch the Christmas episode to find out!”
Argh! We need to know now!

We’re freaking out everyone — we need Clara on Doctor Who!
After rumors swirled around the world wide web earlier this summer about Jenna Coleman leaving the popular BBC show, we’re still not sure if she’ll be returning next season.
“Yes, he’s confirmed,” show runner Steven Moffat shared with press at a London press event for the Season 8 DVD release about Peter Capaldi‘s return. But, he didn’t mention anything about Jenna.
“There’s lots of rumors,” Jenna recently said. “We’ve sat down with [showrunner] Steven Moffat and we’ve all decided we don’t want anyone to know which way it’s going. If you know I’m in the next series — or if you know I’m off — you’ll know how the story ends.”
