The show, which debuted in 2012, will end with season eight, Variety reports.
“This was a difficult decision to come to, but like every hard decision we’ve made for the past seven years, it was with the best interests of Arrow in mind,” series executive producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Beth Schwartz said in a statement. “We’re heartened by the fact that Arrow has birthed an entire universe of shows that will continue on for many years to come. We’re excited about crafting a conclusion that honors the show, its characters and its legacy and are grateful to all the writers, producers, actors, and — more importantly — the incredible crew that has sustained us and the show for over seven years.”
Star Stephen Amelltweeted, “Playing Oliver Queen has been the greatest professional experience of my life… but you can’t be a vigilante forever…There’s so much to say… for now I just want to say thank you.”
Last night’s episode of Arrow came with a series regular leaving the show – Echo Kellum.
The actor, who starred as Curtis, aka Mr. Terrific, opened up about why he was leaving the series after three seasons: “I had a conversation with [then-showrunner] Marc Guggenheim in season 6. It was my idea. I have kids — I have a 12-year-old — and it was just starting to feel like I should be back home more.”
Echo added that this isn’t the last you’ll see of Curtis, but he doesn’t know when he’ll be back.
“We’ve had some discussions,” he adds while talking with EW. “Nothing’s been finalized at this point, but we’ve definitely discussed that aspect and they definitely made sure and clear that they want Curtis to come back. I can’t give you any definitive episodes or storylines, but it’s definitely something I’m 100-percent open to doing, and I believe they’re open to doing it too, so it should definitely work out at some point in the future.”
Echo also revealed what he’ll miss most about playing Curtis week after week.
“I just like his charm. He’s so silly and he brings a lot of levity to a lot of the darkness that the show can permeate. I’m gonna miss that about him — that he just has a great outlook on life, like his positivity,” he says.

The Arrow actress revealed to TVLine that Helix Dynamics, Felicity and Curtis’ tech company does indeed come back into play in the rest of this season on Arrow.
“Felicity and Curtis obviously got in a bit of a disagreement over a big problem, and I say their disagreement is ‘little’ because we do come back to Helix Dynamics without addressing it a major way,” she shared.
How does it all come about?
“They just decide to accept each other back,” Emily says. “I think they miss each other more than anything. Which is nice. Sometimes space and time [heals wounds].”
Echo Kellum, who plays Curtis, added that “you’ll see Felicity and Curtis get back on the ball, making sure that they’re focused on doing what made them great in the first place, by delving into some dynamic technologies.”
