ABC Not Going Forward With Eden Sher Led 'Middle' Spinoff

This might be the saddest news of the day – Eden Sher‘s Sue Heck spinoff from The Middle isn’t going forward at ABC.

Deadline reports that the show, which would follow eternal optimist Sue Heck as she leaves the small town of Orson to navigate the ups and downs of a career and young adulthood in the big city of Chicago, is being shopped around though by producing studio Warner Bros. TV.

The show would also star Chris Diamantopoulos, Brock Ciarlelli, Kimberley Crossman, Finesse Mitchell and Aaron Branch.

Eden Sher's Sue Heck Pilot Adds New Cast Members

Eden Sher‘s Sue Heck The Middle spinoff series is starting to fill up it’s cast and we are so excited about it!

TVLine is reporting that Finesse Mitchell, Aaron Branch, Chris Diamantopoulos and Kimberley Crossman have joined the still-untitled pilot project, which would find Sue navigating her young adult life in Chicago.

The spinoff was previously titled Sue Sue In The City, however, it seems that ABC is going back to the drawing board on the title.

Finesse is set to play Hudson, a bartender with a big heart who works at the same hotel as Sue; and Kimberely is Remi, a talented hotel chef still recovering from a messy breakup that ended with her boyfriend driving away with their food truck — taking all of her dreams with it.

Chris will play Sue’s boss, Nick, who owns the hotel, and Aaron is Otis, the hotel’s naïve but endearing bellhop/concierge.

Brock Ciarlelli was previously announced to join the pilot as a series regular, playing Brad, Sue’s BFF since high school.

Eden Sher's 'The Middle' Spinoff Series Gets Official Title

Eden Sher‘s upcoming The Middle spinoff has an official title and it couldn’t be more perfect!

It will be called Sue Sue In The City – and no, that isn’t a typo. Sue Sue Heck is the full name of Eden’s character.

On top of that, TV Line reports, Brock Ciarlelli will be joining Eden in the spinoff as fan fave character Brad.

If you recall, Brad was once Sue’s boyfriend in middle school. However, they broke up because she learned that he smoked cigarettes.

Later on in The Middle, Brad came out as gay but their friendship was always constant and even got stronger.

Sue Sue in the City will focus on Sue leaving Indiana to pursue a career — and young adulthood — in Chicago.
