“After a lot of hard work and collaboration, and freezing in Vancouver forests, we are at the first big step of sharing this movie with the world,” Zoey writes on Instagram about the vid.
The movie takes off after one fateful night when Samantha (Deutch) wakes up with no future at all and is trapped reliving the same day over and over. There, she begins to question just how perfect her life really was.

It was just announced that the book adaption, directed by Ry Russo-Young, will be released on April 7th, 2017 by Open Road Films on April 7, 2017.
Before I Fall is based on Lauren Oliver‘s book of the same name and centers on Samantha Kingston, who seemingly has it all: the world’s most crush-worthy boyfriend, three amazing best friends, and first pick of everything at Thomas Jefferson High—from the best table in the cafeteria to the choicest parking spot.
But one day turns out to be her last…until she gets a second chance. Seven chances, in fact. Reliving her last day during one miraculous week, she will untangle the mystery surrounding her death—and discover the true value of everything she is in danger of losing.
“We shot in Vancouver, specifically the majestic mountains of Squamish (near Whistler), breathtaking locations,” Elena told JJJ. “Ry Russo Young directed and it was absolutely amazing to work with a female director. It’s so rare and I think we need more of a women’s touch behind the camera! Which is why I loved working with Nia [Vardalos], who not only stars but wrote and produced [My Big Fat] Greek Wedding!”
Elena continued, “I’m excited for people to see Before I Fall though because it’s a dark teen drama, total departure from this comedy. I play Juliet, a severely bullied girl who is so abused in school that she has been driven to insanity and suicide. The film deals with important teen issues like bullying, teen drinking and partying, and also teen suicide. It’s an emotional ride, comes out sometime next year!”
The 18-year-old actress stars as Toula (Nia Vardalos) and Ian’s (John Corbett) daughter Paris in the highly-anticipated new film My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, which hits theaters Friday, March 25!
We caught up with Elena to chat about the film and what it was like working alongside Alex Wolff, who plays her love interest! Check it:
JustJaredJr.com: Tell us about your audition and how the role came about for you!
Elena Kampouris: It was by far the strangest audition process ever for me, starting with the fact that I was reluctant to even audition for it! That may sound crazy but I grew up in a Greek household adoring this film, and knowing that I have fair skin and light eyes, I’m not a very convincing looking Greek. With that, I knew my chances for landing the role were slim because the audition description even said they were looking for Hispanic, Israeli, Mediterranean looking girls and I was aware that they were auditioning hundreds!

The 18-year-old My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 star chatted about the film and her fear that she wasn’t Greek enough for the role.
“I am Greek,” Elena shared. “A lot of people don’t believe it when I say it because I’m blonde, I have fair skin. I figured they’d want a Mediterranean, Israeli, Hispanic looking girl and I know I don’t look like that. But I knew that if I didn’t get this part, I would not only be rejected by the movie, I’d be rejected by family! I think everybody has dealt with having an overwhelming or embarrassing family, dealing with dysfunction. At the end of the day, Greeks have one volume: loud.”
She added, “All I can say is that I’m not getting married. The rest, you’ll have to wait and see.”
