Elle Fanning & Alex Sharp Embark on a Punk Rock Adventure in 'How to Talk to Girls at Parties' Trailer - Watch!

Elle Fanning is an alien who falls for punk rocker Alex Sharp in the brand-new trailer for How to Talk to Girls at Parties!

The Neon Demon actress and the To the Bone actor team up in the new clip, which dropped on on Tuesday (April 3).

Directed by John Cameron Mitchell and based on a short story by Neil Gaiman, the musical rom-com also stars Nicole Kidman, Ruth Wilson, and Matt Lucas.

Here’s the synopsis: “Enn (Alex) is a shy suburban London teenager in 1977, sneaking out with his best friends to after-hours punk parties. One night they stumble upon a bizarre gathering of sexy teenagers who seem like they are from another planet. In fact, they are from another planet, visiting Earth to complete a mysterious rite of passage.”

“That doesn’t stop Enn from falling madly in love with Zan (Elle), a beautiful and rebellious alien teenage who, despite her allegiance to her strange colony, is fascinated by Enn. Together they embark on a delirious adventure through the kinetic punk rock world of 1970s London, inadvertently setting off a series of events that will lead to the ultimate showdown of punks vs. aliens, and test the limits of how far each of them will go for true love.”

How to Talk to Girls at Parties is set to hit theaters on May 18.

Elle Fanning Changed Her Entire Appearance When She First Went To Regular School

Elle Fanning Changed Her Entire Appearance When She First Went To Regular School

Elle Fanning shares a laugh with a friend while out in Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon (March 14).

The 19-year-old actress recently opened up with Glamour about beauty definitions and shared a heartbreaking story about how she changed her entire look when she first started school.

“Beauty is not just what you look like from the outside,” Elle says. “I’ve certainly experienced not feeling super confident.”

She recalls one story in particular: “I was homeschooled until third grade. In fourth grade I went to a regular school, and it was the first time I had been in a classroom with kids my age, so I was a little freaked out.”

“My hair is actually really curly, so I got it blown out straight, and I wore contacts — my eyes are terrible — and this one boy came to me on the playground and said, ‘You’re so beautiful. I’m going to marry you!’”

It all changed the next day, though.

“I washed my hair, so it was curly, and wore my glasses,” Elle says. “And he told me, ‘I’m not going to marry you anymore.’ I’m like, What? All because of physical appearance? Heartbreaking.”

Elle likens it to the makeover moment in The Princess Diaries: “She has glasses and really curly hair, and then you remove those and: Wow! She’s so hot.”

Elle Fanning Opens Up About Beauty Standards

Elle Fanning Opens Up About Beauty Standards

Elle Fanning knows beauty comes from the inside!

The 19-year-old actress recently opened up about an experience she had in school that impacted her confidence but helped her realize physical beauty isn’t what matters.

“I was home-schooled until third grade. In fourth grade I went to a regular school, and it was the first time I had been in a classroom with kids my age, so I was a little freaked out,” Elle explained to Glamour.

She continued, “My hair is actually really curly, so I got it blown out straight, and I wore contacts – my eyes are terrible – and this one boy came to me on the playground and said, ‘You’re so beautiful. I’m going to marry you!’ Whatever. Then the next day I washed my hair, so it was curly, and wore my glasses. And he told me, ‘I’m not going to marry you anymore.’ I’m like, What? All because of physical appearance? Heartbreaking.”

“I think [moving beyond this old view of beauty] starts with what people put out there. Airbrushing is not attractive. Imperfections are what’s beautiful,” Elle added.
