Eli Brown Dishes on His 'Gossip Girl' Reboot Character!

Eli Brown is opening up about the new Gossip Girl reboot!

It was announced earlier this year that the former Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists actor had joined the new series for HBO Max.

While promoting his new Netflix movie, The F**k-It List, Eli revealed a little bit about his character in Gossip Girl.

“We’ve been asked to keep even the very little information that we have pretty secretive, but I can tell you that my character’s a really good guy,” he told ET. “He comes from a very wealthy family and he’s a humanitarian.”

“First and foremost, I’m excited to shoot something in New York,” Eli added. “That sounds so fun, even though I know that it will be a very different New York because of social distancing and the safety precautions. It’s going to be a very different experience than I thought, but that’ll still be very cool. We’re recreating something that was so adored by so many people. It’s going to be fun.”

Penn Badgley & Chace Crawford Say 'Gossip Girl' Should Get Some Credit For This Social Media Site

Penn Badgley and Chace Crawford had a mini, virtual Gossip Girl reunion!

The two former co-stars chatted about their current shows, and reflected on their time together on the CW series.

Penn and Chace dished on how Gossip Girl should get a little credit for Twitter.

“I remember even meeting a publicist that first season, and she was talking about this thing called Twitter. And as she explained Twitter, I was like, ‘What is this nonsense? I don’t want to have a Twitter account, and you tweet. What is this bird thing?’ That’s something that actually years later, I think we got to give credit to Gossip Girl,” Penn said in their Variety “Actors on Actors” interview.

“It was ahead of its time. It really tapped into something interesting on the cusp of it all changing,” Chace added. “I’m like, ‘Why would I want to put my life out there? I’m trying to crawl into my hermit shell. I’m a Cancer.’ But now we’re all partaking. It’s part of the business. I should follow you.”

The guys also talked about watching the show back. Penn said the last time he watched it, it was “very hard to watch” and “sometimes it’s just uncomfortable.”

Chace added that you would have to “strap me to a gurney and pop my eyes open like Clockwork Orange. But no, it would be interesting to see the first couple maybe.”

Thomas Doherty Compares Legacies' Sebastian & Lizzie to Gossip Girl's Chuck & Blair

Thomas Doherty Compares Legacies' Sebastian & Lizzie to Gossip Girl's Chuck & Blair

Thomas Doherty has quite the comparison for his Legacies character Sebastian and Jenny Boyd‘s Lizzie’s relationship.

In a new interview, the 24-year-old actor said their chemistry is much like Chuck and Blair on Gossip Girl.

“I always say, it’s a bit like Marmite, you love it or you hate it, and that’s Sebastian,” he told TV Guide. “I think it can be similar to something like Chuck (Ed Westwick) and Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) in Gossip Girl — that kind of tense friction kind of relationship, but highly entertaining.”

“Sebastian’s initial attraction to Lizzie, that initial spark, does come from a past lover that Sebastian has had,” Thomas added. “So that’s a little bit of his background… I do think it is genuine, and I do also think that Lizzie does remind him of a past lover. She’s very intriguing to him, and he wants to know more about who this girl is.”

'Gossip Girl' Is Coming Back & Here's What to Expect

'Gossip Girl' Is Coming Back & Here's What to Expect

One of the co-creators of Gossip Girl is opening up about what fans can expect from the upcoming reboot series that will be streaming on the future platform HBO Max.

Josh Schwartz shared his and producing partner Stephanie Savage‘s vision for the new show.

Stephanie and I have been talking about it off for the last couple of years and obviously we’ve seen more shows get revisited and there are people on social media asking for it,” Josh said (via Deadline). “We felt that a version with just our cast grown up, regardless of the challenges of getting those actors, didn’t feel like a group of adults controlled by ‘gossip girl’ made much sense. We felt there was something interesting that we are all ‘gossip girl’ in our own way and how that’s evolved, morphed and mutated and telling that story through a new generation of Upper East Side high school kids felt right.”

The producers have reached out to the stars of the original series and offered them the chance to be involved.

“If they want to be involved in some way – we’ve reached out to them, we’d love them to be involved but we didn’t want to make it contingent. It’d be great to see them again,” he added.
