Whitney Peak Landed 'Gossip Girl' Role After 1 Video Audition

Whitney Peak takes the cover of Wonderland magazine‘s spring 2021 issue!

The 18-year-old Gossip Girl star opened up in the mag about her audition process, filming during the pandemic and even the pandemonium around the revival.

“We haven’t even finished filming the show yet and there’s already so much media attention and such a huge fandom. Everybody has something to say about it, and I can’t add to the conversation. It’s kind of overwhelming. But I’m so excited for the audience to be caught off guard!” Whitney told the mag.

As for her audition, she admits, “I 100% was prepared for the project to fall through, Because it happens. And not only that, I just didn’t even believe any of it was real because it was happening so fast, because it happened off the back of one video audition. I was sure someone else was going to come along and take the part from me.”

Whitney‘s Wonderland magazine cover was shot by Heather Hazzan, and is currently available for pre-order at WonderlandMagazine.com!

If you missed them, Whitney was just seen filming scenes for the upcoming HBO Max revival series with her co-star Eli Brown.

Whitney Peak Goes Through Range of Emotions While Filming 'Gossip Girl'

Whitney Peak Goes Through Range of Emotions While Filming 'Gossip Girl'

Whitney Peak expresses different emotions while filming the upcoming Gossip Girl revival series on Tuesday (March 2) in New York City.

The 18-year-old actress was joined by her co-star Eli Brown in the Manhattan neighborhood of the city.

The week before, some of their other co-stars were also seen filming the new series for HBO Max.

Whitney recently opened up about the diverse representation in this new version of the show.

“There’s a lot of representation, which I can’t say we saw a lot of in the first one. It’s dope being able to see people who look like you and who are interested in the same things, and who happen to be in entertainment, because it’s so influential and obviously reflective of the times,” she told Dazed magazine.

“It’s also just humans being humans, doing what they wanna do instead of being fit into, ‘This is a man, this is what a man is supposed to do.’ I think it’s a pretty raw take on the kind of lives that we’re trying to portray on screen,” Whitney added.

'Gossip Girl' Ladies Get Back To Work On Upcoming HBO Max Revival

The cast of Gossip Girl is spotted on set for the first time since December!

Zion Moreno and Savannah Smith were seen getting caught by some wind while doing a scene together on Thursday (January 25) in New York City.

Also spotted on set that day were Jordan Alexander and Emily Alyn Lind.

The official Gossip Girl Instagram account recently shared a little teaser from the show. Check it out below!

Some of the cast of the upcoming revival series recently took the cover of Dazed magazine and opened up about their version of the show.

“We’re making a series in 2021. It’s really important for us to not just talk about (queer culture) but also express (it) as normal… It shouldn’t be this new, exciting thing to talk about, it just exists. It’s about normalizing things that used to be different or taboo,” Emily shared.

“It’s really important to create that sense of bonding between all of us, because that’s the point of the show. The interconnectedness of this group – who we are around this or that person and what elements of the character are brought out when they’re allowed to be that version of themselves with that character,” Jordan added.

If you missed it, the main characters’ names were all revealed earlier this year, along with a defining characteristic!

Ed Westwick Would 'Never Say No' To Returning To 'Gossip Girl' As Chuck Bass

Ed Westwick is speaking out about the possibility of the return of Chuck Bass!

In a new interview promoting his upcoming movie Me You Madness, the actor opened up about coming back for the Gossip Girl revival.

“I think it would be a very cool idea. I haven’t been approached really about it. This is very much its own thing and I wish them all the best. I’m very excited to see what they do,” he told Access Hollywood. “I’ve been in touch with the creators just wishing them the best, Josh [Safran] and Stephanie [Savage]. I know they’re excited.”

“Look, I mean I would never say no, but at this moment there is nothing to report,” he added.

Ed also shared that he somewhat keeps in touch with his OG co-stars.

“A little bit from time to time. It’s funny how life happens, right? I mean, everyone’s kind of off doing their thing, but I see them on social media and sometimes at events. Yeah, we talk from time to time. As long as everyone’s healthy and happy, I’m happy,” he said.

Tangled's Donna Murphy Joins 'Gossip Girl' Revival As Headmistress

Tangled's Donna Murphy Joins 'Gossip Girl' Revival As Headmistress

The Gossip Girl revival series has gained another Broadway great!

It was recently announced that Donna Murphy has been cast in the new HBO Max series as the school’s headmistress, showrunner Joshua Safran confirmed to OK! Magazine.

Donna has quite the extensive resume, from Broadway to film and television. She is also the voice of Mother Gothel in the Disney film Tangled, as well as the spinoff series Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure!

He also told the publication that they are trying to have cameos in every episode of the show, which is set to have 12 episodes in it’s first season.

“There’s a fashion event in the pilot, so there are fashion cameos, there’s a charity event in episode 2,” he revealed. “There’s a very big cameo in episode three. Big, to me! Luckily that cameo happens to be in New York — we just lucked out — and, frankly, we haven’t shot it yet, so for all I know that cameo could leave New York, and it would be difficult.”

Joshua shared that it’s a little difficult to just bring anyone in with COVID safety protocols and restrictions, so it’s easier to cast special appearances if someone is already in New York.

He’s also hoping to get a big music star – “There’s a big musical artist [planned to be] in one of the episodes; we are hoping that is possible.”
