'The Flash' Scoop: Barry 'Loves' That Iris Is The One Running Team Flash

'The Flash' Scoop: Barry 'Loves' That Iris Is The One Running Team Flash

Looks like Barry (Grant Gustin) might be that gushing fiance when The Flash returns next week on The CW.

After returning from the Speed Force, he’ll be met with a new dynamic within Team Flash — one that has his fiancee, Iris (Candice Patton), leading the entire team; and he loves it!

Showrunner Todd Helbing dished to TVLine that not only is Barry proud, “it’s a new dynamic that he’s walking into, so there’s a big learning curve.”

“It’s not just Cisco and Wells behind the command station, it’s the woman he loves. It’s going to take a bit of time for him to get used to that.”

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg also spoke to EW about that dynamic moving forward.

Grant Gustin Dishes on Barry Allen's Return From the Speed Force in 'The Flash' Season 4

Grant Gustin is opening up about what we can expect as soon as Barry Allen emerges from the Speed Force!

Barry has spent the last six months in the Speed Force, and fans are eager to witness his epic rebirth and return to his superhero ways.

“Initially, Barry is pretty scrambled when he comes out of the Speed Force,” Grant told EW. “He’s not himself, he’s talking nonsense. The way I see it, when he was in the Speed Force, he experienced his whole life laid out in front of him from start to finish. So in some sense, he comes out very wise, kind of knowing everything, but he has no understanding of what he’s seen, so he comes out very jumbled and talking what he thinks makes complete sense, but just nonsense to the rest of the crew.”

EP Andrew Kreisberg added, “The most important thing about Barry this year is that the experience of being in the Speed Force was a bit of a baptism for him. The premiere episode is called ‘The Flash Reborn’ and Barry, in a way, has been born again. His experience in there has really washed away a lot of his sins and cleansed him of a lot of his doubts, his fears, and his guilts, and it really is leaving him free and clear to just have an open road and a fresh start. He really loves being The Flash again.”

'The Flash': Grant Gustin Dishes on His Hopes for Barry in Season 4

'The Flash': Grant Gustin Dishes on His Hopes for Barry in Season 4

Grant Gustin is sharing his thoughts on the future of his character, Barry, in season 4 of The Flash!

After Barry took Jay Garrick’s (John Wesley Shipp) place in the Speed Force in season 3, Grant says he hopes that viewers can forgive him.

“He’s able to just let go a lot of the things he feels guilty about, a lot of the hardship he’s had to deal with,” Grant told TV Guide.

Barry did lose his good friend Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) to her alter ego Killer Frost, and he found out that his future self was trying to kill his fiancee.

“Not only was he the big bad towards the end of the season, but he kinda set everything in motion that was bad news last year,” Grant added. “So hopefully, not only for Barry but for the viewers…for Team Flash, there could be kind of a forgiveness and we could move on from all of the drama that happened last year.”

Candice Patton, who plays Iris West, also shared, “[Iris] is forced to deal with that anger and resentment and abandonment by kind of focusing on protecting Central City… We’re seeing a very different Iris, almost a very hardened Iris.”

Don’t miss season 4 of The Flash when it premieres on October 10 on the CW!
