Melissa Benoist poses in her Supergirl costume while posing with her pal Julianne Hough, in costume as Sandy, at the dress rehearsal of Grease Live on Friday night (January 29) at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, Calif.
The 27-year-old actress was joined by her co-star Jenna Dewan-Tatum, also in full costume, while watching the cast sing “You’re the One That I Want” during the carnival scene at the end. They were joined by their show’s co-creator Ali Adler and they also met up with Didi Conn, one of the original Grease stars. See photos of them trying on the Pink Ladies jacket in the gallery!
Here’s a fun fact – Melissa actually sang this same song on Glee alongside now-husband Blake Jenner. Watch below!
There were a bunch of stars in the crowd at the event, which was the first run-through of the show with a live audience in attendance. In Julianne‘s cheering section were her fiance Brooks Laich, their mutual friend Teddy Sears, Aaron Paul and his wife Lauren, and hair stylist Riawna Capri.
Carly on working with her cast mates: “With the girls, it’s really easy. You’re braiding each other’s hair, grabbing each other’s asses. We’re just girlfriends in that way, like the Pink Ladies.”
Vanessa on the pressure of a live show: “The live aspect doesn’t freak me out. It’s a bit nerve-wracking.”
Director Tommy Kail on changing some of the racist and homophobic lines from the original: “We can move past some of those [politically incorrect] things and still have the integrity of the story.”
