'Arrow' Producer Shares What Would Happen If 'Green Arrow & The Canaries' Doesn't Get Picked Up

Green Arrow & The Canaries producer Marc Guggenheim is speaking out about the spinoff.

The producer recently opened up about what would happen to the possible new show and those characters if it doesn’t get picked up.

“Certainly, the backdoor pilot ended with the cliffhanger of William’s abduction. And I do think we owe answers to a lot of those moments and questions,” he told TV Line.

“My instinct would be to try to answer those questions in the form of, like, a comic book tie-in — which is not to say that it couldn’t be done on the other shows,” Marc continued. “When you’re dealing with another time period, the year 2040 in this case, the only show that could handle that or really deal with those questions is Legends [of Tomorrow]. [But that] is a tricky bit of business, since the tonal mashup between Legends and Canaries is so very different. On the other hand, you’ve got Sara, who is sort of the connective glue there….”

“I look at these things as ‘quality problems,” he added. “I love the fact that we now have a universe of shows that allows us to ask ourselves these questions and explore different things and answer questions from different shows, but we also have comic books as an outlet, as well.”

Will There Be a 'Katy Keene' Season 2?

Will There Be a 'Katy Keene' Season 2?

The Katy Keene season one finale just aired and many are wondering if there will be a second season.

While no decision has been made yet, there is hope for a season two.

Earlier today (May 14), The CW President Mark Pedowitz said that they have extended the options for the cast to return.

“The linear ratings have been soft but we have seen some good streaming viewership,” he added, via Deadline. “We’ll make a decision in a few weeks.”

So, if you want more Katy Keene, be sure to stream the show online as much as you can, and be sure to also stream it when it comes out on upcoming service HBO Max.

Other shows that are up in the air include the Arrow spinoff, Green Arrow & The Canaries starring Katherine McNamara, Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy, and The 100 prequel series.

There are “active discussions” with the studio about Green Arrow and the Canaries according to the exec, but it has not yet been ordered to series. That and The 100 prequel series are “very much alive.”

Arrow's Katherine McNamara Talks Post-'Crisis' Mia in Spin-Off's Backdoor Pilot

Katherine McNamara is opening up about her Arrow character, Mia Smoak, in a post-“Crisis on Infinite Earths” reality.

The actress reveals another side of her character in the backdoor pilot for her potential spin-off Green Arrow & The Canaries. Here’s what Katherine McNamara had to share in a new interview with EW:

On juggling memories from two different realities: “It’s all about finding those moments where the different sides of her come out because it’s still the same girl at her core, just with a different set of experiences and a different set of circumstances. So it was really fun to see how her different instincts come out given the situation. Once she has memories back, we see these little flashes of the old Mia and how her instinct and training snap into play. There are other instances in which the old Mia wouldn’t have been able to well, but now with this new Mia’s social skills and the way she handles her life and the connections she has in Star City, she’s able to solve the problems in a different than she would’ve previously. So it almost extends and broadens Mia’s skill set and allows her to be an even more adept member of the team.”

On her favorite scenes from the pilot: “There are so many moments that I look back on. There’s some that I can’t talk about — they’re such spoilers and I can’t wait to discuss them further. But I would say one element that’s really special is the Mia-William relationship. We really got to see in season 8 how much they grew and how much they came together as a result of meeting their father and having to find their mother and deal with all of their issues together. Then in this new reality, they’ve had their entire life together and they’ve had a chance to really become siblings in the best way. They have almost a closer relationship. But then even when Mia gets her memories back, she remembers everything Mia went through in the other reality and she almost becomes more protective of her brother and more understanding of their situation. I love working with Ben Lewis and I love that relationship, and I think it just deepens it even more with this new sensibility.”

On the Queen and Diggle families’ relationship in the new reality after previously saying they will always be connected: “It certainly plays into it in a big way, but I can’t say any more than that without getting in trouble.”

Arrow airs Tuesday at 8 p.m. on The CW.

'Arrow' Spinoff Might Be Happening With Katherine McNamara, Katie Cassidy & Juliana Harkavy!

'Arrow' Spinoff Might Be Happening With Katherine McNamara, Katie Cassidy & Juliana Harkavy!

There might be even more Mia Smoak in our future!

Deadline is reporting that The CW is looking at a spinoff from Arrow involving Katherine McNamara‘s Mia, Katie Cassidy‘s Laurel and Juliana Harkavy‘s Dinah.

The project is being set up as a backdoor pilot that will air as episode inside the final season of Arrow.

“The fact that seven years ago, we introduced Arrow, who would have thought it would have spawned six shows, a whole universe that they managed to create. It’s quite a remarkable feat,” CW President Mark Pedowitz shared back in August about the potential for more spinoffs.

“We believe these franchises, this universe will continue for many years, so it’s important to ensure that you have characters that will keep the fans coming back. How that universe plays out, time will tell,” he added.

The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman are all spinoffs from Arrow.
