The 19-year-old singer and actress, who also served as a guest editor for the issue, opened up about enterting Hollywood at a young age, making time for dating and being Kate Moss‘ number one fan.
On her naiveté when entering Hollywood at the young age of 14: “I don’t think I was aware of anything, other than the fact that I was having fun, in a serious way. I had no idea that asking 500 questions on set every day was too much.”
On balancing dating, work and family: “I mean, there’s always time for dating. I do feel that right now though—and I hate saying this—my top priority is what I’m working on. It’s that and family, and then everything else.”
On being in the Kate Moss fan club: “It’s not like top five—she’s my number one. I carry pictures of [her] to the salon.”
On self-love and the meaning behind her first hit single “Love Myself”: “It’s about how much power there is in self-love and being able to provide for yourself. I don’t think loving yourself is easy, but I’m realizing the importance of it more and more.”

“Joe and I were working with the same team of writers and producers around the same time as we were working on our EPs, and we would see each other when one of us was leaving,” the 19-year-old actress and singer told People. “I guess he heard ‘Rock Bottom’ in passing and cut a verse on it, and it turned out to be the best thing that happened to the song.”
“It felt like it there was a real story told between two people,” Hailee added. “And that’s exactly what I saw when I would hear this song.”
The 19-year-old singer and actress spoke to the mag about the incredible response she’s gotten for her single “Love Myself” and how important it is to have self-confidence in a judgmental world.
“I’ve had girls come up to me and say, ‘Thank you for this song and this message, because it’s something that I needed to hear.’ Regardless of how they interpreted it, that’s all that matters to me at the end of the day,” she explained.
Hailee added, “It’s something I need to remind myself of — how much power it is in being able to love yourself. It’s so easy to forget that we live in a world that is so judgmental…I think if you can start with yourself and have that self-assurance and that self-confidence and love, then you’re good and you’re set.”
Hailee‘s issue of Ladygunn hits shelves on April 1st and can be pre-ordered now.
