When the “Starving” singer stopped by the Harry show, she took a break from movie talk to reveal why she got freaked out while on tour with Meghan Trainor!
“I was on a tour bus,” Hailee told talk show host Harry Connick Jr. “It took a minute to get used to, but I actually kind of loved it.”
“I hit my head more times in that bunk than I ever have in my entire life,” she went on. “One thing that really freaked me out was I was on the top bunk and I was like, ‘OK, what are you supposed to hold on to if you feel like you are going down?’ You just fall.”
“There was one time I woke up in the middle of the night,” Hailee added. “We were definitely taking a turn, and I remember waking up and being like, ‘Hold on!’ But there’s nothing to hold on to!”

The Edge of Seventeen centers on Nadine (Steinfeld), who is already at peak awkwardness when her all-star older brother Darian (Jenner) starts dating her best friend Krista (Richardson).

Haley Lu Richardson cozies up to boyfriend actor Brett Dier at the premiere of her film, Edge of Seventeen, during the 2016 Toronto Film Festival held at Roy Thomson Hall on Saturday night (September 17) in Toronto, Canada.
“She just had to be so many things that were antithetical in a lot of ways,” director Kelly Fremon Craig shared about casting Hailee in the lead role. “Really tough, but also really fragile, and be able to completely nail the comedy but also slay you with how vulnerable and insecure and how much pain she’s in. And the thing that just amazed me is she could do that on a dime.”
She added, “She could go from a funny moment to a moment that just killed me. She was making things alive in a way that I just felt like I’m constantly witnessing something miraculous,” said the writer/director, who emphasized that none of the story points were autobiographical.”
