The 26-year-old actor recently chatted with Movieline about nabbing up the role of Jasper Hale.
“When I got the role of Jasper I said, ‘Oh, this is fun.’ I get to play such a strict very, very, very still character who’s quite and thoughtful and trying to resist temptation of his instinct,” Jackson shared. “I’m a very relaxed, easy-going guy, so to play kind of a buttoned up figure like Jasper was very exciting.”

Jackson Rathbone gives fans a real treat as he surprises them at Regal Cinemas L.A. LIVE during opening night of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 on Friday (November 18) in Los Angeles.
The 26-year-old actor was even kind enough to sign a few posters after the movie let out. How sweet!
Jackson recently told Movieline about his love for the movies and playing Jasper Hale.
“It’s definitely the thing I love about Jasper the most. He’s fighting his instincts in order to maintain that last shred of humanity. That’s what I find fascinating about this band of vampires and the mythology that Stephenie Meyer has created in the Twilight series. I think that’s what people are attuned to. Every day in our lives we’re surrounded by temptation and to finally have protagonists who really are trying to stay away from that temptation, that’s beautiful,” he shared.

JustJaredJr.com had a chance to chat with the 26-year-old actor earlier this month in Los Angeles and found out about what he loved most about Jasper Hale, working with the directors of the Twilight Saga films and his favorite reads. Check it:
On what he learned from each director: “Catherine Hardwicke comes from a production design standpoint and she really still has those aesthetics, all of her scenes are rich, all of her films are visually deep. Chris Weitz has a really glossy feel, it is very much like post cards in the way he shoots. David Slade is visceral in the way he shoots, he is very technical in the way he works. Bill [Condon] who did the last film, is a gentleman, he has that really old school mentality. It is fascinating to see how each director worked.”
On what he liked most about Jasper: “I really liked playing Jasper as this really quiet southerner and how uncomfortable he is around humans. In Breaking Dawn he is finally smiling. In the first couple films you see him be so serious, and developing him over the course of the years has been great. Everyone has been so great to work with, they are all so talented.”
On the books that influenced him: “I loved ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ books, I also loved the ‘Lord of the Rings’ series. I just finished reading ‘Lamb’ by Christopher Moore which I fell in love with, I read it on the plane as I was doing press for this film. I am a huge Paulo Coelho fan, I love ‘The Alchemist’. I’m actually reading two of Paulo‘s books right now, I’m reading ‘Warrior of Light’ and ‘By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept’.”

The 26-year-old Twilight actor once shared about the relationships he has with the women in his life.
“I got my butt kicked a few times by my sisters,” Jackson said. “But I grew up so southern that my father would say, ‘You take it like a man.’ And I’d be like, ‘Oh, what? I’m 5!’ But it was interesting. My dad always taught me to treat my girlfriends the way I wanted my sisters to be treated by their boyfriends. They always taught me a really wonderful level of respect that’s not common these days.” More Here! »

The 26-year-old actor, joined by his lovely costar Ashley Greene (in Narcisco Rodriguez), recently chatted with MTV about the dance scene at the wedding they share.
“We had to get a new Ashley Greene,” Jackson joked. “Luckily we had the parts to repair her…She was an amazing trouper letting me do it. Because, yeah, it’s dangerous. It was scary. We had to rehearse a bunch. On the day, she was wearing heels, and we had to rehearse in the heels to make sure it was kosher. And it was good. It was good. We got it down in three takes.”
