Jake Abel waves to the cameras as he wraps filming for the day on Percy Jackson & The Olympians: Sea of Monsters in Vancouver, Canada on Tuesday (May 15).

The 24-year-old actor plays Luke in popular film franchise, opposite Logan Lerman, Brandon T. Jackson and Alexandra Daddario.

Leven Rambin and Douglas Smith were also spotted on set, filming in Camp Half-Blood.

“Bullseye has taken on new meaning this monday morning on set of #percyjackson as cyclops and colchis bulls meet,” Douglas tweeted earlier.

The Host summary: Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact. Most of humanity has succumbed. When Melanie, one of the few remaining “wild” humans, is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading “soul” who has been given Melanie’s body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn’t expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

The movie is expected to open on March 29th, 2013.

Jake Abel is in final negotiations to star as Ian in the upcoming film adaption of The Host, Deadline reports.

The 23-year-old actor will star as Ian, a “menacing young man who brutalizes Wanderer (Saoirse Ronan) before falling in love with her.”

The Host summary: Melanie Stryder (Ronan) is one of the last humans putting up a fight against an alien species called Souls. These parasites invade human bodies, fuse to each person’s consciousness and systematically erase their personalities.

This marks the second film Jake and Saoirse have done together. They starred in The Lovely Bones in 2009.

Variety reports that the studio behind the flick is on the search for the two main guys in Melanie’s life — Jared, her boyfriend and Ian.

Up for Jared: Liam Hemsworth, Kit Harington, Jai Courtney and Max Irons, while Dane DeHaan, Thomas McDonnell, Augustus Prew and Jake Abel are dukeing it out for Ian, a “menacing young man who brutalizes Wanderer before falling in love with her.”

The L.A. Times (via MTV) is reporting that Fox 2000 is in the early development stages for the follow-up flick to Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.

In the second book, Percy (Logan Lerman) and his group of friends as they head to the titular sea to find the mythical Golden Fleece and to free Grover (Brandon T. Jackson) who has been captured on the island of Polyphemus.

Stars Logan, Brandon, Alexandra Daddario and Jake Abel are signed on for three movies in the series. Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski are penning the second script with Chris Columbus and Karen Rosenfelt producing.
